The world bank is an international financial institution that provides leveraged loans to poor countries for capital programs with a goal of reducing poverty.

World bank comprises of two institutions:(1) IBRD (2) IDA

History

The world bank was originally established to support reconstruction in Europe after world war II.

World bank is one of two major institutions created as a result of “Bretton woods conference” in 1944.

International monetary fund is the 2nd institution.

Mission

World bank’s main mission is to Reduce poverty.
