INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS MARKET ESSEN

The air is cold and clear, the smell of roasted almonds, mulled wine and delica-

cies from all over the world wafts into your nose, and all around you is a sea of

light - welcome to the International Christmas Market Essen.

See for yourself that it is one of the most beautiful and largest in Germany. A

variety of stalls with handmade, traditional goods and international specialities

await you on the numerous squares. What makes the International Christmas

Market in Essen unique is its combination with the Essen Light Weeks. Wherever

you walk or stand, you will experience the glow of lights that has made Essen a

special experience for 72 years.

This year, children‘s eyes will light up as they discover the zoo of lights throug-

hout the city centre. An orca springs from the Burgplatz, shy deer can be obser-

ved with caution near the Marktkirche and a giant rhinoceros brings a touch of

Africa to the Willy-Brandt-Platz.

Experience wonderful and warming moments in Essen‘s city centre. This map

will help you find your way around. After all, there is a lot that is new this year
