main cause of depression is anger turned inward. Perhaps you are ina job that you hate but cannot see a way out of it. Maybe you have arelationship that is filled with anger and betrayal. I don’t know whatthe reasons are but I do know that you have to find the source ofwhat is making you angry and make a change. Sometimes the angeris locked up in our past. When this happens you may need to getsomeone to help you get at the root of the issue. Most of the time it isa parent or a trusted friend that has caused us pain in our lives.When that happens there is but one option which is to acknowledgeit, forgive and forget. When you allow anger to fester there is achemical reaction that occurs that can create a vicious cycle in yourlife. Below are some tips to help you break that cycle.
Get Some Exercise
I know that sounds trite. The truth is, however, that when weexercise we release endorphins that help to battle the negativechemical effects of depression. Moderate regular exercise allows usto add those positive endorphins back into our bloodstream and givesus an overall sense of well being. So get out and raise your heartbeatone to two times per day for thirty minutes at a time.
Laughter Is The Best Medicine
If you like movies then rent some comedies and laugh. Maybe invitea good friend to join you in the laughter. Don’t allow negativeinfluences in your life. Make a pact with yourself that you are goingto focus on laughing and being happy.
Make Friends and Avoid Isolation
Isolation is a bad place to be. If you don’t feel like being with peoplethen that is possibly the best medicine for you. Staying at home andfocusing on all the bad things that are in your life will not make themany better. Get out on the town and meet some happy people.
Avoid Drugs and Alcohol
Many depressed people will use drugs and alcohol as a way to copewith their depression. Unfortunately this behavior only leads tochemical toxicity that further degrades are ability to produce positiveendorphins. We also start doing things that are a lack of goodjudgement and create situations that serve only to validate ouralready existing poor self esteem. Instead focus on eating healthyand putting good things in your body that will increase the goodendorphins.
Eat Foods That Help Produce Positive Endorphins
The number one natural antidepressant is Chocolate. Dark chocolateis best and has other health benefits as well. Other foods that aid inthe production of endorphins are bananas, strawberries, grapes andoranges. In truth eating whole foods in general will have a positive
physiological effect and as a bi product perhaps a positive emotionaleffect.
Stuck In A Job You Hate?
For me that was the source of my depression a year and a half ago.All I could see was more of the same thing that I hated. I had to eatcrap with a smile on my face and I was sick of it. I was angry atmyself for allowing myself to be put in the situation I was in and I wasangry at a greedy corporation that didn’t really care if I lived or diedas long as I made my production numbers. I spent most of my career as a Financial Services Representative. Ispoke to people all over the United States about investments andpersonal risk management.
