What A Good One Looks Like!

I would like the Farnley Park Maths and Computing College to sell McDonald’s burgers at break and lunch time. This is a fantastic opportunity for the school to make lots of money. All pupils will want to buy food from McDonalds and therefore the school will be so rich they can pay for more games and inside space for us on a lunchtime!

Hello there Judges!

You are now going to judge all the campaigns to see which one is best. You will represent your year group

at a special assembly if you win!

Resources

Held each August Bank Holiday since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe. Every year the streets of West London come alive, with the sounds and smells of Europe's biggest street festival. Twenty miles of vibrant colourful costumes surround over 40 static sound systems, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, over 40,000

volunteers and over 1 million Notting Hill carnival revellers

Festivals and Carnivals

CULTURAL LIFESTYLESDancing is just one of the many sports and activities which has been influenced by immigration in Britain. For example hip hop, reggae, R and B, break dancing have all been a result of our multicultural society. These features are now integrated into the way we live so much so Bollywood dancing is now on the national curriculum!

Food and DrinkOne type of Caribbean cooking is known throughout the world today: the barbecue - derived from the French "de barbe a queue" which literally translates to "from beard to tail" from the practice of roasting a whole pig over an open fire.

Skills and EmploymentImmigration has long provided the skills and labour to fill the gaps in the market. For example due to the poor uptake of plumbing and electrical apprenticeships in the late 1990’s, Polish workers have come to bring those expertise to the market. Without immigration we would not be able to fill jobs that other people don't want to do such as farming.

Money, Money, MoneyImmigrants make money for their new country. This money is collected in the form of taxes; income taxes, road tax, VAT, and all other forms of taxation. It is estimated that once all the benefits have been paid to immigrant families the government still make £2.5 billion in taxes from immigrants.

Improved InfrastructureIt is because of the increase in population and taxes that immigration brings that the infrastructure is improved for you. More money is spent on healthcare, transport, education meaning you benefit directly from immigration.
