OnlineengagementMany of our Alumni Groups are increasingly using online platforms as a channel to engage alumni with their Group. CARO can provide assistance andsupport to help you set up or improve your online activity.

Your Group webpages

CARO maintains the University’s alumni website whichcontains information about alumni benefits, events andUniversity news, as well as a full directory of over 400Alumni Groups. Each month the website is visited byover 22,000 people and provides an excellent opportunityfor your Group to advertise itself.

All Alumni Groups are provided with an individualwebpage and we strongly encourage your Group to takeadvantage of this webpage to achieve maximumexposure of Group details, news and events. In addition to this the CARO website contains a list of forthcomingGroup events; if you need some inspiration for your nextevent this page may be helpful.

Every month we advertise these Group pages to alumnithrough the e-bulletin (sent to over 116,000 alumni) and three times a year in CAM (sent to 200,000 alumni). In order to take advantage of these pages please ensurewe have details of your latest events and activities foralumni to read. This may be a newsletter, event invitation,report or a collection of photos.

Social media

FacebookWith almost 1bn users Facebook is the world’s largestsocial media website. Most individuals use it to connectwith friends, family and colleagues, as well as joininggroups or more localised networks.

Around 50 Cambridge Alumni Groups use Facebook toconnect with alumni. Some of these Groups use Facebookas their sole communication tool; others use it to promoteevents and to share ideas with their membership.

LinkedInLinkedIn is a social networking website aimed at peoplein professional organisations. The site allows users to connect to other trusted contacts and helps you toexchange ideas and opportunities with a broader networkof professionals.

CARO has established a group on LinkedIn for allCambridge alumni which currently has around 6,000members. This LinkedIn group also has a sub-group forAlumni Group leaders, allowing you to share experience,ideas and best practice in running your Group. linkd.in/CamAlumGroup
