UsingOutlook2013/2016forWindowswithGoogleAppsGoogleAppsSyncforMicrosoftOutlook®(alsoknownasGASMO)allowsyoutouseMicrosoftOutlook®2013and2016forWindowswithGoogleApps.TheGASMOtoolisaMicrosoftOutlookplug-inthatallowsOutlooktobeaclientforGoogleAppsemail,calendar,andcontacts.
1. GototheGoogleAppsSyncforMicrosoftOutlook(GASMO)downloadpageandcarefullyreviewthesystemrequirements.
PleaseNote:WhiletheGASMOtoolsupportsmanyversionsofMicrosoftWindowsandOutlook.UAAcurrentlyonlysupportsWindows7,8,and10andOutlook2013and2016.Ifyouarerunningolderversionsofeitheroftheseonuniversityownedcomputersweencourageyoutoupgradetheapplicablesoftwarebeforefollowingthesesteps.ClicktheDownloadGoogleAppsSyncbutton.
2. Runthegoogleappsyncsetup.exe.
a. Note:SymantecEndpointProtection’sDownloadInsightmightdisplayadialogwindowwithanoticethat“Ourinformationonthisfileisinconclusive.”andpromptsyouifyou’dliketoRemovethisfilefrommycomputer,orAllowthisfile.ClickAllowsthisfile.
b. Youmayalsobepromptedtograntpermissionforanapplicationexception.ClickOk,orRundependingupontheversionofMicrosoftWindowsyouarerunning.
3. WhenpromptedenteryourGoogleApps@UAaccountemailaddress,makesuretoselecttheoptiontoRememberme.ClickContinue.
4. GASMOwillnowlaunchyourdefaultwebbrowsertocontinuesign-inattheGoogleApps@UAsign-inwebsite.
5. InyourpreferredwebbrowseryouwillseeawebpageindicatingthatGoogleAppsforMicrosoftOutlookwouldliketoandalistoffeatures.ScrolltothebottomofthepageandclickAllow.
6. ThewebsitewillrefreshanddisplayamessageindicatingthatAuthorizationhasbeengrantedsuccessfully.Pleaseswitchtoyourapplication.
7. CloseorminimizethebrowserwindowandreturntoGASMO.
8. Aftersign-in,adialogappearswhereyouwillbepromptedtoCreateaGoogleAppsprofileinMicrosoftOutlook.

b. Option2)YourExchangeaccountdidnotsuccessfullymigratethelast90-days’worthofemailandcalendaritemsORyouneedtomigrateemailandcalendaritemsolderthan90-days.Ifso,dothefollowing:
i. SelectImportdatafromanexistingprofile.ii. Fromthedrop-downmenuselect<YourExchangeProfileName>inthis
exampleit’slabeledOutlook.iii. Verifythatthefollowingoptionsareselected:Emailmessages;Delete
messages;Junkemail;Contacts;Calendars;Notes,journalentries,andtasks.
iv. ClickCreateprofile.
v. ClickStartMicrosoftOutlook.
vi. TheGoogleAppsMigrationforMicrosoftOutlooktoolwilllaunchandbegincopyingyourExchangecontenttoGoogleApps.DependinguponthesizeofyourExchangeaccountthisprocesscouldtakeminutes,hours,orevendays.
vii. Whenthedatacopyhascompletedyouwillseethefollowingdialog.ClickOk.
viii. IntheMigrationCompleteddialogClickOk.
ix. IntheGoogleAppsMigrationforMicrosoftOutlookdialogwindowclickDone.
x. ProceedtoStep9.
9. AftertheCreateprofileandsetupcompletes,adialogueboxappears.ClickStartMicrosoftOutlooktobegin.
10. WhenMicrosoftOutlooklaunchesmakesuretheUaUsername@alaska.edu-GoogleAppsSyncprofileisselectedandclickOk.
11. MicrosoftOutlookwillopenandtheGASMOSynchronizationStatusdialogwindowwillappear.TheamountofdatainyourGmailaccountwilldeterminehowlongthesyncbetweenOutlookandGmailwilltake.YoucanbeginusingOutlooktosendemailwhilethesynccompletesinthebackground.
