Enrolment Projections (with Unnamed North Oshawa PS (Greenhill/Clearbrook))
Unnamed North Oshawa PS will provide:
Relief to Sherwood PS, and
Relocation of growth from Seneca Trail PS to the new school.
New school facilities attract students from other sources (other publicly funded and private schools).
30 students (from other sources) have been included in the enrolment projections for Unnamed North Oshawa PS, every year.
Grandfathering
When new schools open there is an option for the Grade 8 students (within the boundary) to remain at their current school, or to attend their new school for their graduating year.
The trend, over the past few years, has been for students to attend their new school for their graduating year.
Therefore, current Grade 6’s (2019/20 Grade 8’s) are included in Unnamed North Oshawa PS enrolment for September 2019.
Students will be given the option, through a survey, after boundaries have been approved.
Transition and Communication
Please provide your input on Transition Planning and Communication opportunities for this proposal.
Examples include: New Principal to provide information and updates on school’s website.
Community Input
As part of the survey for students who will be entering grade 8, provide information on what extracurricular activities are anticipated (i.e. sports, clubs, grad. trip)
Boundary Process/FAQ
What is the process for boundaries/program moves? Board Regulation #3313: School Boundaries is followed to create
new boundaries and adjust existing boundaries or move a program (i.e. French Immersion).
When will a decision be made? A decision is scheduled to be made at the May 22, 2018 Board
Meeting.
Who makes the final decision? The Board of Trustees makes the final decision, after
consideration of a staff report that will review data, input from the community and provide a recommendation.

Summary of Community Input to Date
When will a Principal be hired for the school?
Based on current practice a Principal is expected to be hired April 2019.
When will Unnamed North Oshawa PS (Greenhill/Clearbrook) be named?
After a Principal is hired, the naming process begins.
A report will be presented to Trustees, recommending a name of the school, for their approval.
Summary of Community Input to Date
Our house is within the boundary of Unnamed North Oshawa PS (Greenhill/Clearbrook) but we live closer to Sherwood PS and would like our children to continue at Sherwood PS.
The new school is being constructed to provide needed relief to Sherwood PS.
The timing of the boundary consultation process, and decision
scheduled for May 2018, allows more than one school year for
families and children to plan for, and adjust to, the changes.
There will be transition plans put in place to assist students with the change. Please share any input that could assist in the transition of your children.
Scheduled to open September 2019, current grade 6’s (2018/2019 grade 7’s) will be given the choice to graduate at the new school, or remain at Sherwood PS to graduate.
