This small volume (2nd edition 2016) contains a selection of images from 'unmonumental', a project by New York artist Joy Garnett, with an essay by Tom McGlynn. 'unmonumental' is an ongoing social media performance that generates and instantly shares photographs of ephemeral artifacts in the New York City streets. Started in 2008 and comprising over 800 photographs, 'unmonumental' has grown into a project of monumental proportions. Joy Garnett is an interdisciplinary artist and writer living in Brooklyn, NY Tom McGlynn is an artist, writer, and independent curator based in the NYC area.
