The University’s online store facility is a convenient way for departments to sell goods and services via the Internet.

Hosted by WPM Education - Market Leader in providing online payments services in Higher Education and Further Education sector.

Numerous departments and colleges are already successfully

running online stores selling a wide variety of items including conferences and courses, garden parties, college balls, stands at the Freshers Fair and miscellaneous merchandise such as sweatshirts, mugs and ties.

Procedures for setting up your own ‘shop’

Departments can apply to use and manage their own area of the Store or it can be managed centrally by the Cashiers.

Centrally Managed – for one-off events that will be set up under the ‘finance shop’ within the store

Department Managed – for regular users. Department completes an application form and we set up their own ‘shop’.

Training can be arranged for anyone who wishes to have access to the store – either basic or full access.

Background to Prevent

• Part of UK’s counter-terrorism strategy

• Came into force 18 September 2015

• Universities required to:

₋ “have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”

₋ “balance their legal duties in terms of both freedom of speech and academic freedom, whilst also protecting student and staff welfare”

Monitoring by HEFCE

• University and colleges monitored separately

• Assessment:

₋ Initial self-assessment completed in January 2016

₋ More detailed submission in August 2016

₋ Ongoing: annual report in December 2016, five-yearly cyclical reviews

• Light-touch, proportionate and contextual approach
