Managing Twitter

• Same person in charge + staff members personalised accounts • @Mentions and direct messages: engaged or not to engage??

• Develop an editorial line & a weekly editorial Twitter calendar

- Scheduled/planned tweets (eg event, policy development)

Don't tweet what you eat, but tweet as you eat: three times per day - #TwitterTips

Content

• Think!! Who do I need/want to reach out? (e.g. EU or national instututions, NGOs, industry, wider public)

• Clear differentiation between official position and everything else.

• What to tweet?

• Tweet in several languages? Create language-specific twitter accounts

• One tweet from your Sec Gen etc is worth 100 tweets from staff
