•  Duringadustysummer,oceancoolingisabouthalfofthatpredictedbyholdingatmospherictemperaturefixedandnotaccoun0ngforforcingatthetopofatmosphereFTOA.Thecoolingislimitedbytheslow(mul0‐year)response0meoftheoceanmixedlayertemperature.

•  Oninterdecadal0mescales,wheretheclimatecanadjustfullytochangesindustradia0veforcing,thecoolingcanbelarger,althoughitshouldbecalculatedusingbothFTOAandFSURF.

•  3DResponse:theatmospherecanmoderatethelocalresponsetodustradia0veforcingbychanginglateraltransportofenergyawayfromthedustlayer.(Needabejermodelwithlateraldependence.)
