Barrel Sleeve Installation Instructions1. InserttheBarrelSleeveontotheBarrelandloopthecord

overthetopofthereceiverandpositionatthebackofthegripasshown.

2. Adjustthecordlengthretaineruptothebackofthegripbypullingthecordthroughituntiltheretainerissnugagainstthebackofthegrip.Keepingthecordastightaspossible,leavejustenoughcordelasticitytopullthecord/retainerupoverthetopofthemarkertoremovetheBarrelSleeveforfiring.

3. Afterthecordlengthisproperlyadjusted,lockthecordlengthbytyingaknotinthecordagainstthebackoftheretainerasshown.

4. Beforeandafterplaying,inspecttheBarrelSleeve.ReplacetheBarrelSleeveifthesleeveorcordisdamaged,orathereisalossofcordelasticity.

5. CleantheBarrelSleevewithplain,warmwaterandstoreoutofsunlightinadryareawhennotinuse.

Getting Started• Eyeprotectiondesignedforpaintballusemustbewornbytheuserandanypersonwithin

range.• Donotdisassemblethismarkerwhileitispressurizedwithair.• Donotpressurizeapartiallyassembledmarker.• Readeachstepcompletelybeforeperformingthestep.NOTE:Carefullyhandstartallthreadedpartswhenassembling,anddonotovertighten,asthismaypotentiallystripthethreadedparts.

1. Prepare Marker for Air/CO2 Cylinder Installation.a. ApplyTippmannoiltotheBarrelO-ring.b. InserttheBarrelintotheReceiver.c. CarefullyturntheBarrelclockwisebyhanduntiltight.

2. Air/CO2 Cylinder Installation.ReviewAir/CO2 Cylinder Safety Tips.

a. PuttheTriggerSafetyintheSafepositionandinstalltheBarrelSleeve.

b. Cockthemarkerbyslidingthebolthandleallthewaybackuntilitlocksintoplace.Alwayskeepmarkerinthecockedpositionwhenattachingair/CO2cylindertothemarker.Thishelpspreventanaccidentaldischarge.

c. Lubricatetheair/CO2cylindervalveO-ringwithalittleTippmann®oil.

d. Inserttheair/CO2cylindervalveintotheAirSupplyAdapter(ASA)(29)atthebackendofthemarkergrip.

e. Twisttheair/CO2cylinderclockwiseintotheASAuntilitstops.UsecautionasthemarkerisnowcapableoffiringafteryouputtheTriggerSafetyintheFireposition.(Ifthetankisfullandyoudonotheartheair/CO2cylinderengage,thepinvalvecouldbetooshortorthepinvalvesealisdamaged,followtheAir/CO2 Cylinder Removalinstructionsandtakeyourair/CO2cylindertoa“C5”CertifiedAirsmithforinspectionorcontactthecylindermanufacturer).

3. Loading the Hopper

TheBarrelSleevemustbeinstalledandtheTriggerSafetyintheSafeposition.a. MakesurethattheFeedElbow(9)andHopperarecleanandfreeofsharpedgesor

debris.Thiskeepspaintballsfrombreakingprematurely,andallowspaintballstofeedtothemarker’schambersmoothly.

b. InstalltheHopperneckintotheFeedElbow.c. TightentheFeedElbowBolt(11)usingtheincluded3/16”allenwrench.d. WiththeBarrelSleeveinstalled,andtheTriggerSafetyintheSafeposition,youarenow

readytoloadthehopperwith.68caliberpaintballs.Donotforceexcessivenumbersofpaintballsintothehopper.

4. Fire the Marker

a. RemovetheBarrelSleevefromthemarker.b. Pointthemarkerinasafedirection.c. PuttheTriggerSafetyintheFireposition.d. Pullthetriggertofirethemarker.

Velocity AdjustmentEachtimeyouplaypaintball,checkthevelocityofyourpaintballmarkerwithachronograph(aninstrumentformeasuringvelocity)priortoplayingpaintball.Verifythatthemarker’svelocityissetbelow300feetpersecond(orlessifrequiredbytheplayingfield).Toadjustthevelocity,usethe3/16”allenwrenchincludedwithyourmarker.TheVelocityAdjustmentScrew(#51inPartsDiagramandshowninFigure3)islocatedonleftsidereceiver.Toreducethevelocity,turnthescrewinwardorclockwise.Toincreasethevelocity,turnthescrewcounterclockwise.Donotremovethevelocityscrew.

Unloading Your Marker1. Eyeprotectiondesignedforpaintballusemustbewornbytheuserandanypersonwithin

range.2. InstallthebarrelsleeveandputtheTriggerSafetyintheSafeposition.3. EmptyandremovetheHopper.4. Gotoadesignatedfiringarea,removetheBarrelSleeve,andputtheTriggerSafetyintheFire

position.5. Pointyourmarkerinasafedirectionandfireseveraltimestobesuretherearenoremaining

paintballslodgedinthechamberorbarrel.IMPORTANT:Donotuncockyourmarkerasuncockingyourmarkermaypushaballintothechamberordownintothebarrel,makingithiddenfromview.

6. ReturntheTriggerSafetytotheSafepositionandreinstalltheBarrelSleeve.7. Visuallyinspectthechamberforpaintballs.8. ReadthefollowingAir/CO2 Cylinder WarningsandSafety Tipsbeforeremovingtheair/CO2

cylinderfromyourmarker.

Air/CO2 Cylinder Warnings

RefertoFigure4.Therehavebeenreportedincidentscausedbyplayersunknowinglyunscrewingthecylinder(2)fromthecylindervalve(1).Thisoccurswhentheplayerthinkstheentirevalve-cylinderassemblyisbeingunscrewedfromtheairsupplyadaptor(ASA)ofthepaintballmarker,wheninfacttheyareunscrewingthecylinderfromthecylindervalve.Toavoidthisdanger,itisrecommended(ifyourcylinderisnotalreadymarked)thatyouusepaintornailpolishtoplaceamark(3)onthecylindervalve,andplaceanothermark(4)onthecylinder,inlinewiththe#3markasshown.Wheneveryouturnthecylinderduringremoval,watchthemarksonthecylinderandthecylindervalvetobesurethattheyrotatetogether.IfatanytimethesemarksstarttoseparateasshowninFigure5,thecylinderisstartingtounscrewfromthecylindervalveandyoumustSTOPandtaketheentireunittoa“C5”certifiedairsmithforsaferemovaland/orrepair.NOTE:Thecylindervalveshouldunscrewfromthepaintballmarkerinabout3or4fullturns.Ifyoufinishthe4thfullturnandthecylindervalveisnotunscrewedfromthepaintballmarker,STOP!Taketheentireunittoa“C5”certifiedairsmithforsaferemovaland/orrepair.Locatea“C5”CertifiedAirsmithatwww.paintball-pti.com/search.asp.

Whetheryouhaveaneworusedrefillableair/CO2cylinder,youareatriskifanyofthefollowinghasoccurred:

• Thevalveunitwasreplacedoralteredafterpurchase.• Ananti-siphondevicewasinstalled.• Thevalveunitwasremovedfromthecylinderforanyreason.• Anymodificationwasdonetotherefillableair/CO2cylinder.

Ifanyoftheseconditionshasoccurred,takeyourair/CO2cylindertoa“C5”CertifiedAirsmithforinspectionorcontactthecylindermanufacturer.

Air/CO2 Cylinder Safety TipsSAFETYTIPStoensurethatyourairorCO2cylinderissafeforplay:

• Improperuse,filling,storage,ordisposalofair/CO2cylindermayresultinpropertydamage,seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.

• Makesurethatanymaintenanceormodificationtoanyair/CO2cylinderisdonebyaqualifiedprofessional,suchasa“C5”certifiedairsmith.

• Theuseofanti-siphondevicesisnotrecommended.However,ifoneisalreadyinstalledonyourair/CO2cylinder,orsuchdeviceisdesired,itiscriticalthatyourcylinderbecheckedbyaqualifiedprofessional,andyouhavethedeviceinstalledbyaqualifiedprofessional.

• Allair/CO2cylindersmustbefilledonlybyproperlytrainedpersonnel.• Cylindervalvesmustbeinstalledonlybyproperlytrainedpersonnel.• Donotoverfillacylinder!Neverexceedtheair/CO2cylinder’scapacity.• Donotexposepressurizedair/CO2cylindertotemperaturesexceeding130degrees

Fahrenheit(55degreesCelsius).• Donotusecausticcleanersorstrippersontheair/CO2cylinderorcylindervalve,anddonot

exposethemtocorrosivematerials.• Donotmodifytheair/CO2cylinderinanyway.Nevertrytodisassemblethecylindervalve

fromtheair/CO2cylinder.• Anyair/CO2cylinderthathasbeenexposedtofire,orheatedtoatemperatureof250

degreesFahrenheit(121degreesCelsius)ormoremustbedestroyedbyproperlytrainedpersonnel.

• Useappropriategasforyourcylinder.OnlyuseCO2inaCO2cylinderandonlyusecompressedairinacompressedaircylinder.

• Keepallcylindersoutofthereachofchildren.• Theair/CO2cylindershouldbeinspectedandhydrostaticallyretestedatleastevery5years

byaDOTlicensedagency.• Keepexposedskinawayfromescapinggaswheninstallingorremovingtheair/CO2

cylinder,orifthemarkerorcylinderisleaking.CompressedairandCO2gassesareverycold,andcancausefrostbiteundercertainconditions.

Air/CO2 Cylinder Removal1. ReadAir/CO2 Cylinder WarningsandAir/CO2 Cylinder Safety Tipsbeforebeginningthe

cylinderremovalprocess.2. Eyeprotectiondesignedforpaintballusemustbewornbytheuserandanypersonwithin

range.3. FollowtheUnloading Your Markerinstructions.4. Watchthemarksonthecylinderandcylindervalve(asshowninFigure4)asyouturnthe

cylinderapproximately¾turncounterclockwise.Thisallowstheair/CO2cylinder’spinvalvetoclosesothatnogasentersthemarker.

5. RemovetheBarrelSleeve.SettheTriggerSafetytotheFireposition.Pointthemarkerinasafedirection,anddischargetheremaininggasinthemarkerbyrepeatedlypullingthetriggeruntilthemarkerstopsfiring(thismaytake4-5shots).Ifyourmarkercontinuestofire,thecylinder’spinvalvehasnotclosedyet(thecylinderpinvalvecouldbelongerthanusual.Becauseofthevariancesincylinderpinvalveparts,eachcylindervariesslightlyonexactlyhowfarithastobeturned).Turnthecylindercounterclockwisealittlefurtherandrepeatthisstepuntilthemarkerdoesnotfire.Onlythenremovetheair/CO2cylinder.NOTE:Ifduringthisstep,youturnedtheair/CO2cylinderanditbegantoleakbeforeyoupulledthetrigger,thecylinder’sO-ringshouldbecheckedfordamagebeforeanyre-assembly(seeRepairing Air/CO2 Cylinder Leaksbelow).

6. Aftertheair/CO2cylinderisremoved,againpointandfirethemarkerinasafedirectiontoverifythemarkeriscompletelydischargedofgas.

7. MovetheTriggerSafetytotheSafepositionandinstalltheBarrelSleeve.

Repairing Air/CO2 Cylinder Leaks

Themostcommonleakoccursfromabadair/CO2cylindervalveO-ring.ToreplaceavalveO-ringyoumustfirstremovethebadO-ringandtheninstallanewone.ThisO-ringislocatedonthetipofyourair/CO2cylindervalve.ThebestvalveO-ringsaremadeofurethane.UrethaneO-ringsarenotaffectedbyhighair/CO2pressures.ThesemaybepurchasedfromTippmann®oryourlocalpaintballdealer.NOTE:Ifanewair/CO2cylindervalveO-ringdoesnotresolvealeak,donotattempttorepairtheair/CO2cylinder.ContactTippmannSports,LLC,yourlocalpaintballdealer,ora“C5”CertifiedAirsmith.

NOTE:Petroleumbasedproductsandaerosolproductscandamageyourmarker’sO-rings.Tocleanyourpaintballmarkerexterior,useadamptoweltowipeoffpaint,oil,anddebris.Tocleaninsidethebarrel:1. RemovetheHopper.2. CompletelyloosentheFeedElbowThumbNut(10)fromtheReceiverandremovetheFeed

Elbow(9)fromthemarker.3. InsertthetabofthecleaningsqueegeeintotheFeedElbowopeningtothebarrelandpushthe

squeegeeintothebarreluntilthetabisaccessibleatthemuzzleendofthebarrel.4. Pullthesqueegeethroughthebarreltoremovedebris.5. Repeatifnecessary.6. ReplacetheFeedElbowbackontothemarker.7. TightentheFeedElbowThumbNuttosecuretheFeedElbowtothemarkerandreinstallthe

Hopper.

Tomaintainyourmarkeringoodworkingcondition,inspect,clean,andreplaceanydamagedparts.LubricateasinstructedintheMarker Disassembly/Re-assemblysectionbelow.ThebestvalveO-ringsaremadeofurethane.UrethaneO-ringsarenotaffectedbyhighgaspressures.ThesemaybepurchasedfromTippmann®oryourlocalpaintballdealer.UseTippmann®oiltolightlylubricatetheO-rings,springs,andotherareasindicatedinMarker Disassembly/Re-assemblyinstructions.Thismaintainsyourmarkeringoodworkingcondition.

Storage

PuttheTriggerSafetyintheSafeposition.Unloadthemarkerandremovetheair/CO2cylinder.Puttheboltintheforward(uncocked)position.Cleanandoilthemarkersothatitdoesnotrust.InstalltheBarrelSleeve,andstoreyourmarkerinadryarea.Whenremovingyourmarkeroutofstorage,makesuretheTriggerSafetyisintheSafepositionandtheBarrelSleeveisinstalled.Youshouldre-oiltherearboltO-ringandthefrontboltO-ringbeforeuse.

Marker Disassembly/Re-assembly

Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenperforminganymarkerdisassemblyorre-assembly.RefertothePartsDiagramfortheseinstructions(itemnumbersareinparentheses).Disassemblyinstructionsarelistedhere.Tore-assemble,justdothestepsinthereverseorder.1. Pullthebolthandleback(seeFigure2)andkeepholdingontoit.Thenpullthetriggerandallow

thebolthandletomoveslowlyforward.Thisuncocksthemarker.

2. ToremovetheBarrel(item54,seeFigure1),simplyunscrewtheBarrelfromtheReceiver,andtoreinstallit,justturnitclockwisetothreaditintotheReceiver.

3. ToremovetheLeft Grip(22)ortheRight Grip(18),removetwoScrews(14)fromeachgrip.ReassemblebyusingtheScrewstofastentheGripstotheReceiver.

4. ToremovetheFeed Elbow(9)fromthereceiver,unscrewtheThumbnut(10)fromtherightsideofthereceiver.TheC-Clip(16)keepstheThumbnutfromcomingloosefromtheFeedElbow.TheFeedElbowhingesdownwardandthebottomtabscomeoutof

Cord Length Retainer

WARNINGThe brass or nickel plated cylinder valve (Figure 4, #1) is intended to be permanently attached to the air/CO2 cylinder (2). An air/CO2 cylinder can fly off with enough force to cause serious injury or death if the cylinder (2) unscrews from the cylinder valve (1).

TO UNLOCK THE TRIGGER (FIRE POSITION): PUSH THE TRIGGER SAFETY FROM THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE MARKER TO ENABLE FIRING.

5. Laythemarkerwiththerightsideontheworkbench.UsetheincludedallenwrenchtoturntheVelocity Screw(51)allthewayin.SeparatetheReceiver Halves(1and2)byfirstremovingthree(longer)Screws(25),andthenfour(shorter)Screws(26)andfinallyoneBolt(19).RetaineightNuts(15)forthesefastenersfromtheRightReceiverHalf.CarefullylifttheLeft-ReceiverHalftoaccesstheinternalparts.

6. IftheBall Latch(8)needstobereplaced,prytheoldoneoutoftheRightReceiverHalf.PutthenewBallLatchintotheRightReceiverHalf,orientedasshowninFigure7(circleditem).

7. RemovetheScrew(23)fromtheASA(29).SlidetheASAfromthepinintheRightReceiverHalf.BesuretokeeptrackoftheNut(30).Ifnecessary,youcanunthreadtheASAfromtheGas Line(21).Useteflontapeonthreadsforassembly.NOTE:Donotremovethegaslinefittingunlessitisleakingoryouneedtoreplacethevalve.Ifyoudoremoveit,youwillneedsometeflontapeorpastetoreinstallit.Carefullyhandstartallthreadedparts.Donotovertightenthreadedpartswhenassembling.TofullyremovetheGasLine,unscrewitfromtheValve Body(43).

The Valve

Disassemblyinstructions:1. RemovetheEnd Cap Cover(56),andthenremove

theEnd Cap(57).2. RemovetheGuide Pin(33)andDrive Spring(32).

ThesepartsmustberemovedbeforetheRearBoltHandlecanberemoved.

3. DisconnecttheLinkage Arm(36)fromtheRear(35)andFront(49)Bolts.

4. SlidetheFrontBoltoffthePower Tube(48)andchecktheO-ring.CleanandoiltheO-ring,orifdamaged,replacewithanewone.DothesamewiththeRearBoltO-ring.

5. RemovetheRear Bolt Handle(53)fromtheRear Bolt Plug(52).6. IfitisnecessarytoremovetheValve,unscrewthetwoValve Lock Bolts(13)fromtheright

sideoftheReceiver.UseawrenchtoslowlyunscrewtheGas Line(21)fittingfromtheValve.Oncethefittingisremoved,theValve(43)slidesoutthebackofthePowerTube.Besuretosetthepartsontheworkbench.Inspectandcleantheexteriorofallassemblies.NOTE:ChecktheexternalValveO-ring(58)andifdamaged,replacewithanewone.IftheO-ringisdamaged,yourmarkerwillnotfunctioncorrectly.

7. Inspectandlubricatetheseinternaldriveassemblyparts:• Front Bolt O-ring(34)• Rear Bolt O-ring(58,seeFigure8)• Linkage Arm(36)• Drive Spring(32)andGuide Pin(33)

8. InspectandlubricatetheBarrel O-ring(38)andtheair/CO2cylindervalveO-ringwithafewdropsofoil.

Reassembly:1. ReinstalltheValveintothePowerTube.InsertthecleanedandoiledValveintothePowerTube

andaligntheholesoftheValveandPowerTube.ApplyteflontapeorthreadpasteonthreadsoftheGasLinefittingandcarefullyscrewitintotheValve.Snugwithawrench(donotovertightenandstripthreadedparts).Wipeoffanyexcesspaste.

2. ReinstallthePowerTube/ValveintotheReceiver.AligntheholesofthePowerTubetothoseoftheRightReceiverHalf.ApplyredLoctite™#271sealanttothreadsoftwoValve Lock Bolts(13)andtighten-donotover-tightenboltsasyoucouldstripthreads.

The Trigger

Disassemblyinstructions:1. RemovetheTrigger(59)assemblyfromthereceiver.

BesuretoretainthetriggerreturnSpring(61,locatedinfrontoftheTrigger,andnotshowninFigure9)

2. ToremovetheTrigger Return Slide(60)andtheSpring(61),youmustfirstremovetheupperReturn Slide Dowel Pin(20)fromtheTriggerassembly.

3. Whenre-assemblingtheTriggerandSear,makesuretheblackSear Dowel Pin(4)isinthelocationshown(arrowinFigure10).Theblackpinishardened,anditiscriticalthatitbelocatedinthisposition.

• Issue—Markerrangeistooshort.Cause—Notenoughgasisenteringthesystem.Solution—Checkvelocitywithachronograph.TurnVelocityAdjustertoincreasevelocity,andrecheckwithachronograph.

• Issue—Markerrangeistoolong.Cause—Toomuchgasisenteringthesystem.Solution—Checkvelocitywithachronograph.TurnVelocityAdjustertodecreasevelocity,andrecheckwithachronograph.

cylinderifitisnotcompletelyempty.3. ShiptheProducttotheTippmannaddressidentifiedabove.4. Youmustpre-paypostageanddeliverycharges.5. ProvidethedateofpurchasefortheProduct.6. Brieflydescribetherepairrequested.7. Includeyourname,returnaddressandatelephonenumberwhereyoucanbereachedduring

normalbusinesshours,ifpossible.

Tippmannmakeseveryefforttocompleteitsrepairworkwithintwenty-four(24)hoursofreceipt.TippmannwillreturntheProducttoyouviaregulargroundUPS.Ifyouwishtohaveitreturnedusingafasterservice,youcanrequestNEXTDAYAIRUPSORSECONDDAYAIRUPS,butyouwillbechargedforthisserviceandmustincludeyourcreditcardnumberwiththeexpirationdate.Yourcreditcardwillbechargedthedifferenceinadditionalcostoverregulargroundshippingservice.
