The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
PREFACEhen writing this guide, every effort was made to pull in as much information as
possible from as many sources as could be found. I tried to include as many
ships as could be located in the EVE universe, but there are some that are
likely still out there, waiting to be identified. All I can say in that respect is “Wait for the
update.” For now, there should be plenty here to keep any level of gamer occupied.
WThis guide is organized into chapters for each ship class, with sub-headings for each race
within that class. Bonuses are generally listed after the description. At the end there are two
Appendix chapters that wrap up all the lonely stragglers that can’t be categorized
somewhere else in the book. That said, the rest should speak for itself.
Thank you in advance for purchasing this strategy guide. Stay tuned for new editions, as
the game is updated!
Warmest Regards,Brendan ManleyMarch 2010

The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION
n the world of EVE Online, the use
and ownership of the best ships you
can get your hands on is paramount
to success, but with seemingly countless
options, sometimes it’s tough to know what
choice is right for you. While this book
makes no claims of making all your
decisions for you, it CAN help you approach
the debate from an organized, informed
viewpoint. The more you can narrow down
your choices, the less likely you are to
make a mistake out of “option overload.”
I
As you read on, you will notice multiple
classifications for ships: including, race,
developer, intended use and more. The
further you get into the more exclusive
models, the more you will notice the
importance of specific designers. So I
thought it would be best to address here in
the introduction an aspect that isn’t fully
tackled anywhere else in this guide—what
follows is a brief description of each of the
main shipbuilders in the game:
DesignersCarthum Conglomerate
(Amarr)
Carthum ships are the definition of the
Amarrian approach to warfare. With stout
armor and potent weapons systems, they
offer a balance of offense and defense, but
generally fall short when it comes to shields
and electronics.
Khanid Innovation (Amarr)Amarr ships now boast the most
advanced missile systems outside of
Caldari designs, in addition to considerable
electronics systems, thanks to Khanid
Innovation’s tireless work to combine these
two facets. As a result they usually de-
emphasize turrets, in favor of close-range
missile attacks. Khanid vessels also feature
next-gen armor alloys strong enough to
endure a serious pummeling.
Viziam (Amarr)Some consider Viziam ships the most
durable vessels in space. Their armor is
unbeatable and their shields nearly
impervious, which makes them extremely
9
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
tough customers. There’s a downside
though, as a result: Viziam ships are
relatively slow, and offer limited weapons
and electronics options.
Ishukone (Caldari)Ishukone have proved themselves to be
one of the most important ship designers in
the Caldari State, and enjoy a place at the
top tier of the Caldari corporate world. A
majority of the Caldari Fleet’s ships were
created by Ishukone designers; most of
Ishukone’s recent designs showcase a
combination of features synonymous with
the Ishukone brand: great long-range
abilities and the absolute best in shield
systems.
Kaalakiota (Caldari)Kaalakiota’s ships are supremely combat
oriented, which makes perfect sense, since
the developer is one of the largest weapons
manufacturers in the universe. In line with
the classic Caldari combat philosophy, they
are built around a large number of weapons
systems, particularly missile launchers. A
downside is they have fairly weak armor
and structure, relying mostly on shields for
defense.
Lai Dai (Caldari)
Lai Dai ships are highly versatile thanks
to the developer’s balanced approach to its
mix of on-board systems, but provide very
little in the way of tactical specialization.
CreoDron (Gallente)CreoDron is the largest drone developer/
manufacturer in space, so the company has
a vested interest in drone carriers. The
developer has recently started to expand
their design scope, employing drone
techniques in entirely different settings,
leading some to ask question about the
origins of this technological leap. The
designer’s ships usually offer respectable
defensive capability, and can tear through
some pretty formidable enemies; as one
may imagine, top-of-the-line CreoDron
drones are a necessity.
Duvolle Labs (Gallente)Duvolle Labs is known for making solid
ships with a handy range of offensive and
defensive features. The company is one of
New Eden’s main manufacturers of particle
blasters, so its ships usually favor turrets,
giving them a slightly increased power
output.
10
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Roden Shipyards (Gallente)
Taking a different approach than their
fellow Gallente manufacturers, Roden
Shipyards usually favor missiles over
drones, and their ships are often faster and
feature stronger armor than other
comparable vessels. Roden ships generally
offer extensive hull modification options,
but their electronics capabilities are known
to be inferior to competitors’ ships.
Boundless Creation (Minmatar)
Boundless Creation's ships are built
upon the Brutor tribe's approach to warfare:
Cram as much firepower onto your craft as
possible. As a result, defense systems and
electronics arrays come a distant second to
sheer DPS.
Core Complexion (Minmatar)Core Complexion’s ships are proof
positive that there’s more to Minmatar
shipbuilding than just cramming guns into
every available space. Surprisingly, Core
ships tend to favor electronics and defense,
instead.
Thukker Mix (Minmatar)
Thukkers spend their lives endlessly
wandering space in vast inter-galactic
caravans, so their technology is based on
both necessity and their ingenious skills as
tinkerers. As a result, their ship designs are
often based upon standard templates but
are then significantly tailored for the
Thukkers’ specialized needs. Thukker ships
often favor quickness and attack power
over defensive features. Although these
craft are frequently knocked for lack of
innovation, they are categorically the
fastest and most nimble of their kind, which
certainly counts for something.
11
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CHAPTER TWO: SHUTTLES
huttles are the most basic form
of transportation, with the sole
purpose of getting you from
point A to point B. They cannot be fitted
with modules, and can only carry small
items, but they're also cheap and sold
nearly everywhere. Definitely DO NOT fly a
shuttle in low security space; don't use
them, for anything aside from moving
between stations or running courier
missions. That said, shuttles are extremely
difficult to target, because they rapidly
engage to warp.
S
Since shuttles are found in most
systems, you can just buy one whenever for
one particular trip, then sell it later.
Shuttles generally have a tiny cargo hold,
and can be repackaged themselves, and
carried within in a larger ship. Each of the
four races has its own basic shuttle design:
Race Ship
Amarr Amarr Shuttle
Caldari Caldari Shuttle
Gallente Gallente Shuttle
Minmatar Minmatar Shuttle

CHAPTER THREE:
ROOKIE SHIPSookie Ships are the first ships
players use in EVE, earning them
the nicknames “newbie ships”
and “noobships,” among others. Upgrading
to a better model ship (try a Frigate) should
be a top priority for players stuck in one of
these. If you lose a better ship later in the
game, you will be returned to a Rookie
Ship, just for kicks.
R
Each race has its own beginner Rookie
Ship:
Race Ship
Amarr Impairor
Caldari Ibis
Gallente Velator
Minmatar Reaper
AmarrImpairor
For decades, the Amarr Empire has been
churning out Impairor-class frigates,
making it the most common vessel within
the Amarrian boundaries. It is frequently
used both as a simple trade ship and as a
low-level slave transport.
Special Ability: Provides a 10% bonus
to energy turret capacitor use per skill
level.
CaldariIbis
Small but stout, the Caldari Ibis frigate
performs adequately when hauling cargo or
mining on a small scale. The Ibis is highly
reliable, making it the natural choice for
rookie ship captains.
Special Ability: Receive a 10% bonus
hybrid turret optimal range per skill level.
13
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
GallenteVelator
First introduced as a speedy passenger
ship, the Velator-class frigate is one of the
oldest vessel types in the Gallente fleet.
The extra passenger quarters were
eventually modified into weapon
hardpoints, since newer models were used
for minor security and military functions.
The Velator remains a solid choice for
mining and trading.
Special Ability: Offers a 5% bonus to
hybrid turret damage per skill level.
MinmatarReaper
Barely attaining frigate status, the
Reaper is the smallest Minmatar frigate. It’s
super cheap, and is therefore used in great
quantities by the Minmatar for risky fly-by
missions, on both sides of the law.
Special Ability: Receive a 5% bonus to
velocity per skill level.
14
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CHAPTER FOUR:
FRIGATESs soon as you can get out of your
“noobship,” a frigate is the first
ship to purchase at the early
stages of the game. Frigates are generally
a popular choice because they are cheap,
small, fast and very easy to fly. Frigates are
a mainstay ship in the EVE universe, and
are frequently encountered. They may be
small and weak in comparison to larger
craft, but they are also the quickest, most
agile and most elusive ships in space.
A
These highly maneuverable vessels
make a strong choice for Level 1 missions
(or DEDs and ratting in high sec), early
mining voyages or PvP combat. In PvP,
frigates can be deadly to much larger ships
in a gang, because they are strong tacklers
(webbers/scramblers), and can fly in close
to large targets, avoiding the heavy guns.
Frigates are available in a wide range of
designs. Each race offers several choices:
Race Ships
Amarr Crucifier, Cruor, Executioner,
Inquisitor, Magnate, Punisher, Tormentor
Caldari Bantam, Condor, Griffin, Heron, Kestrel, Merlin
Gallente Atron, Imicus, Incursus, Maulus, Navitas, Tristan
Minmatar Breacher, Burst, Probe, Rifter, Slasher, Vigil
AmarrCrucifier
Although first designed to serve as an
explorer/scout, the current incarnation of
the Crucifier employs for offensive
applications a range of electronic
equipment originally intended for scientific
studies. These myriad electronic and
computer systems comprise most of the
ship’s internal space, therefore limited
room is available for cargo or traditional
weaponry.
15
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Receive a
10% bonus to Small Energy Turret capacitor
use and 5% bonus to Tracking Disruptor
effectiveness per skill level.
CruorThis leech-like ship is a cornerstone in
any effective Blood Raider fleet, designed
almost solely for energy draining and stasis
webbing. The ship also lends itself to some
intriguing standard applications.
Special Ability: Receive a 100% bonus
to Small Energy Turret damage.
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides a
15% bonus to Energy Vampire and Energy
Neutralizer drain amount per level.
ExecutionerNewly commissioned by the Amarr
Imperial Navy, the Executioner was
designed specifically to counter the
Minmatar Republic’s small, quick raider
frigates, so it differs from other Amarr ships
in that it favors speed over defenses. The
Executioner has allowed the Amarrians to
expand their battlefield tactical capabilities.
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides a
10% bonus to Small Energy Turret capacitor
use and 5% Small Energy Turret damage
per skill level.
InquisitorWith the Inquisitor, once again the
Amarr Imperial Navy has created a ship to
counter other empires’ specific tactics
employed by the other empires. It is a
typical Amarr ship in many ways, with good
defenses and not-so-good mobility.
However it’s fitted more like a Caldari craft
than an Amarr ship, because its arsenal
consists mostly of missile bays.
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Receive a
10% bonus to EM missile damage and 5%
bonus to Explosive, Kinetic and Thermal
missile damage per skill level.
MagnateThe pet project of an elite group of royal
engineers for more than a decade, this
artfully designed ship offers luxury like no
other in its class. The design process has
gone through several stages over the
years, with the Silver edition being one of
the most recent issues of the line.
16
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides
5% bonus to Small Energy Turret capacitor
use per level; 5% increase to scan strength
of probes per skill level; 5% bonus to
survey probe flight time per level.
PunisherThe Punisher is a recent addition to the
Amarr Imperial Navy, and is arguably the
finest of all the Amarr frigates. With its
heavy armaments, the Punisher is best
used for large-scale military operations,
where it acts in coordination with larger
craft, however it is certainly powerful
enough for solo voyages.
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides a
10% bonus to Small Energy Turret capacitor
use and 5% bonus to armor resistances per
skill level.
TormentorFor countless decades, the Tormentor
has been in use, primarily as a mining ship,
because it’s not big enough for a battle
frigate. Of course as is typical of Amarr
ships, the Tormentor’s tough defenses
make it a difficult opponent. For this
reason, and for the way it appears to curl
up, the Tormentor has earned the nickname
“Armadillo.”
Amarr Frigate Skill Bonus: Earn a 5%
bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus to
mining laser yield per skill level.
Role Bonus: -60% mining laser
capacitor use.
CaldariBantam
Both strong and sturdy, the Bantam is
an extremely effective mining frigate. The
ship’s large structure also makes it ideal for
trading, thus the ship is highly sought-after
among up-and-coming inter-stellar
merchants.
Caldari Frigate Skill Bonus: Receive a
5% bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus
to mining laser yield per skill level.
Role Bonus: -60% mining laser
capacitor use.
CondorThis ship is quick and nimble, but has
limited cargo space. It’s not really suitable
for trading or mining; the Condor is best
used as an assault craft in hit-and-run
missions.
17
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Caldari Frigate Skill Bonus: 5% bonus
to light missile and rocket kinetic damage
10% bonus to light missile and rocket
velocity per skill level.
GriffinThe Griffin is a favored tool of the
Caldari Navy, which uses the ship as a
support craft in combat squadrons. With its
impressive arsenal of electronic gadgets to
disrupt the operation of target ships, the
Griffin helps make them easy pickings for
standard combat vessels.
Caldari Frigate Skill Bonus: Receive a
15% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
and 10% bonus to ECM Target Jammers'
capacitor need per level.
HeronSince the Heron is equipped with quality
computer and electronic systems, it could
conceivably participate in electronic
warfare. However with its relatively weak
defenses and weaponry, it's more
commonly used for scouting and
exploration.
Caldari Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides
5% bonus kinetic missile damage per level;
5% bonus to scan strength of probes per
level; 5% bonus to survey probe flight time
per level.
KestrelThe Kestrel is a heavy missile boat,

5% bonus to drone range per level; 5%
increase to scan strength of probes per
level; 5% bonus to survey probe flight time
per level.
IncursusWherever there are Gallentean military
operations, you’ll usually find the Incursus
leading the charge, as its quickness and
uncanny strength make it a lethal
skirmisher. Incursus-class ships travel in
groups, and together can rapidly
overwhelm ships many times their size.
Pirates, drawn to the Incursus’ aggressive
looks, have been increasingly
“appropriating” these ships in recent years.
Gallente Frigate Skill Bonus: Provides
a 10% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret falloff
and 5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret
damage per skill level.
MaulusThe high-tech Maulus is a specialized

Gallente Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage
and Remote Sensor Dampener
effectiveness per skill level.
NavitasA solid mining vessel, the Navitas is
widely employed by independent
excavators, and is one of the best ships
available for would-be traders, or even
scavengers. It depends upon its long-range
scanners and formidable outer shell for
protection.
Gallente Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus
to mining laser yield per skill level.
Role Bonus: -60% mining laser
capacitor use.
TristanUnofficially dubbed “The Fat Man,” the
Tristan is anything but—this nimble little
frigate is extremely versatile, making it
highly popular throughout Gallente space
for many years. These days it is mainly
used for escort duties or short-range
patrols. The Tristan is expensive, but worth
every penny.
Gallente Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage
and 7.5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret
tracking speed per skill level.
MinmatarBreacher
It may seem like a bucket of bolts, but
the Breacher's missile launcher hardpoints
and superb sensors have made it one of the
most respected Minmatar frigates for long
range combat.
Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus:
Receive a 10% bonus to Explosive missile
damage and 5% bonus to EM, Kinetic and
Thermal missile damage per level.
BurstThis cargo ship is small but speedy. It
can function admirably as a miner on a
smaller scale, but would require assistance
for larger operations.
Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to cargo capacity and 20% bonus
to mining laser yield per skill level.
Role Bonus: -60% mining laser
capacitor use.
20
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Probe
Substantially larger than most Minmatar
frigates, the Probe is a good scout ship and
cargo-runner. Another unusual
characteristic is its hard outer shell, which
makes the Probe tough to kill, but its
minimal weapon hardpoints make it reliant
on fighter support if attacked.
Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds
5% bonus cargo capacity and per skill level;
5% bonus to scan strength of probes per
skill level; 5% bonus to survey probe flight
time per level.
RifterThe Rifter is an extremely formidable
combat frigate, capable of taking on the
elite ships in its class. The vessel’s design
has been modified numerous times since its
first appearance amid the Minmatar
Rebellion, and now has an arsenal of
offensive options at its disposal, making the
Rifter not just lethal, but unpredictable, as
well.
Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus: Adds
a 5% bonus to Small Projectile Turret
damage and 7.5% bonus to tracking per
level.
Slasher
Extremely versatile and easy on the
wallet, the Slasher has been produced in
vast quantities, and is therefore one of the
most frequently encountered craft in
Minmatar space. It’s lightning quick and has
respectable weaponry, so it’s also a popular
choice for smugglers and pirates.
Minmatar Frigate Skill Bonus:
Receives a 5% bonus to Small Projectile
Turret damage and 7.5% bonus to Small
Projectile Turret tracking speed per skill
level.
VigilOne of the more unconventional
Minmatar vessels, the Vigil can be used as
both a long range scout and electronic
warfare platform. Quick and nimble, it can
maintain the range required to elude
enemy fire, while employing jammers and
other electronic devices.
Special Ability: Provides a 5% bonus to
max velocity and Target Painter
effectiveness per skill level.

CHAPTER FIVE: DESTROYERS
estroyers are the middle step
on the ship ladder between
frigates and cruisers. Since
many players prefer to jump straight from
frigates to cruisers, destroyers are often
forgotten as an option, mostly because
they’re nowhere near as tough as cruisers,
but not agile enough to avoid fire like a
frigate. However they are a true upgrade
from frigates, and have their uses.
D
Armed with plenty of small guns,
destroyers are well suited for Level 1 and 2
missions and Level 2 DEDs, while also
salvaging. They are also useful when
running Level 1 missions later in the game,
because they can rack up a lot more
damage than frigates. Some players use
destroyers on a second account, or as a
hauler on missions. Destroyers can use lots
of high slot equipment, especially salvagers
and tractor beams, and make great
dedicated salvage/looting ships.
Each race has its own destroyer:
Race Ship
Amarr Coercer
Caldari Cormorant
Gallente Catalyst
Minmatar Thrasher
AmarrCoercer
The Royal Navy designed the Coercer
directly in response to the worrisome rise in
Minmatar frigate fleets. The vessel is
crafted to hunt and eliminate the swarms of
speedy frigate rebels.
Destroyer Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
bonus to Small Energy Turret tracking
speed per level; 10% bonus to Small Energy
Turret Capacitor usage per level.
Role Bonuses/Penalties: Suffers a
-25% rate of fire for all turrets; adds a 50%
bonus to optimal range for small energy
turrets.
22
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CaldariCormorant
Interestingly, the Cormorant is the only
State-produced vessel to boast a third-party
design; the designer’s identity remains a
well-kept secret among the Caldari inner
circle.
Destroyer Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
bonus to Small Hybrid Turret tracking speed
and 10% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret
optimal range per level.
Penalty: Suffers a -25% rate of fire for
all turrets.
Bonus: Adds a 50% bonus to optimal
range for small hybrid turrets.
GallenteCatalyst
The Gallente Catalyst is renowned as
one of the finest anti-frigate platforms in
space, perfectly attuned for both
skirmishing and fleet support. Top-of-the-
line tracking equipment makes it even
tougher.
Destroyer Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
Bonus to Small Hybrid Turret tracking
speed and 10% bonus to Small Hybrid
Turret falloff per level.
Penalty: Suffers a -25% rate of fire for

to protect the big ships from smaller, more
agile threats.
Destroyer Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
bonus to Small Projectile Turret tracking
speed and 5% bonus to Small Projectile
Turret damage per level.
Penalty: Suffers a -25% Rate Of Fire for
all turrets.
Bonus: Receive a 50% bonus to optimal
range for small projectile turrets.

CHAPTER SIX: CRUISERS
lthough stuck somewhere in
the middle of the pack just
above destroyers, cruisers are
not to be underestimated. Like frigates,
they’re another staple ship in EVE online,
and are frequently the second ship type
players buy early in the game. These mid-
sized ships have low skill requirements and
even lower prices, making it affordable and
logistically possible for players to make the
leap from frigates. Cruisers come in many
varieties, including both mining and combat
ships. Obtaining a cruiser is a natural
milestone for any EVE online player,
whether it’s for industrial purposes, mission
running, or PvP.
A
The cruiser is a strong opponent for its
cost, and is capable of performing many
roles in combat. Cruisers are popular for
PvP because of their price and hefty
damage. They are both the mainstay and
workhorse for most PvP fleets, and are good
for solo PvP. They can also be used for all
Level 2 and many Level 3 missions. The
biggest difference between cruisers and
frigates is that cruisers are larger, so it’s
much harder to “get under the guns” of the
larger ships the way that a frigate can.
Cruisers are also slower than frigates,
because they have extra mass, making
them slower to accelerate and tougher to
turn.
There are four main cruiser designs
available to each race; one geared toward
mining, one toward Electronic Warfare, one
for basic combat and another more
expensive combat variant :
Race Ships
Amarr Arbitrator, Augoror, Maller,
Omen,
Caldari Blackbird, Caracal, Moa, Osprey
Gallente Celestis, Exequror, Thorax, Vexor
Minmatar Bellicose, Rupture, Scythe, Stabber
24
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
AmarrArbitrator
Arbitrator: The Arbitrator is primarily a
drone carrier, which unusual for Amarr
ships. It’s not the best carrier out there, but
it has superior armor for greater durability
than most other ships in its class.
Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a 5%
bonus to Tracking Disruptor effectiveness
per skill level and 10% bonus to drone
hitpoints, damage and mining yield per skill
level.
AugororOne of the veteran Amarrian warhorses,
the Augoror saw action in both the Jovian
War and Minmatar Rebellion. It is mainly
used for escort and scouting missions too
tough for frigates. Like many fellow
Amarrian vessels, the Augoror relies upon
resilience and heavy armor in combat
situations.
Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
10% bonus to armor hitpoints per level and
10% bonus to capacitor need of energy
transfer arrays per level.
Role bonus: Receive a 500% bonus to
range of energy transfer arrays.
MallerThe Maller is a staple of Amarrian
Imperial Navy operations, which is quite
intimidating consider many deem it the
toughest cruiser in space. Although mostly
used for military applications, others are
found in the private sector, where they
serve as escort craft for important galactic
dispatches.
Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret
capacitor use and 5% bonus to all Armor
Resistances per level.
OmenYet another textbook Amarrian design,
the Omen features dense armor and lethal
lasers, which fire faster than many other
ships, due to the Omen’s advanced heat
dissipation technology.
Amarr Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret
capacitor use and 5% bonus to Medium
Energy Turret rate of fire per level.
25
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CaldariBlackbird
This small high-tech cruiser is a new
addition to the Caldari Navy. It is usually
employed in fleet battles or to act as
wingman, and is geared for tactical
situations rather than bare-knuckle brawls.
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
15% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength
per level; 10% bonus to ECM Target Jammer
optimal range and falloff per level.
CaracalSpecializing in missile deployment, the
Caracal is a potent vessel indeed, with
strong shield defenses. It suffers a bit from
poor armor plating, but its “shock and awe”
missile arsenal will more than quiet any
naysayers.
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: Receive a
5% bonus to Kinetic Missile Damage and
10% bonus to Light, Heavy Assault and
Heavy Missile Velocity per level.
Moa
Designed as a full-tilt combat vessel, the
Moa can stare-down just about any
opponent it encounters, especially thanks
to its back-breaking armament. The Moa is
most deadly at long range, from where the
ship’s rail guns and missile batteries can
safely neutralize any threats.
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
10% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret
optimal range and 5% bonus to shield
resistance per level.
OspreyIf you’re looking for a powerful, highly
versatile ship at junkyard prices, the Osprey
is the clear choice. Engineered to be a
complete cruiser, the Osprey taps into
every Caldari technology at its disposal,
including state-of-the-art armor alloys,
sensor technology and weaponry—
produced en masse for great affordability. It
is also important to note that recently, the
Caldari have implemented a new
technology for mining laser calibration, thus
a significant increase has been experienced
in ore yields, particularly among veteran
pilots.
26
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: Receive a
20% bonus to mining laser yield and 10%
reduction in Shield Transport capacitor use
per level.
Role Bonus: Adds a 500% bonus to
range of shield transporters.
GallenteCelestis
A versatile ship capable of fulfilling
multiple roles, the Celestis is especially
handy for smaller corporations with limited
ships. Like other Gallente craft, the Celestis
is particularly lethal at close range, thanks
to advanced targeting.
Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret Damage
and Remote Sensor Dampener
effectiveness per skill level.
ExequrorAlthough the Exequror can handle
defending itself against raiding frigates, this
heavy cargo cruiser lacks punch in tougher
combat. It is frequently employed in
relatively safe areas where size and power
are needed, without too much capital
investment. In general it is not as efficient
for missions as the Thorax or Vexor.
Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
10% bonus to Cargo Capacity and 10%
bonus to capacitor need of remote armor
repair system per level.
Role Bonus: Receive a 500% bonus to
range of remote armor repair systems.
ThoraxThe Thorax is the newest combat vessel
commissioned by the Federation. It is a
strongly effective ship at any range, but in
the Gallente style the Thorax is most
deadly at close range, where it can use its
blasters and drones to ravage enemies. It
has fittings for lots of firepower and
damage absorption, with space for utility as
well. It is a common choice for PvP combat.
Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus: Receive
a 5% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret
damage per level and 5% increase to
MicroWarpdrive capacitor bonus per level.
27
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Vexor
Highly versatile, the Vexor is not just a
formidable drone-carrying combat ship; it’s
also appropriate for a variety of other uses,
similar to the Stabber in price and function,
minus the speed. The ship is especially
helpful for surveying in potentially hostile
sectors, since it can stay in space for long
periods without having to return to base.
The Vexor is also tough enough to defend
itself against some pretty intimidating
opponents.
Gallente Cruiser Skill Bonus: Provides
a 5% bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret
damage and 10% bonus to drone hitpoints,
damage and mining yield per skill level.
MinmatarBellicose
A fast, highly well-rounded ship, the
Bellicose has been used for everything from
a combat juggernaut to a support vessel for
wings of frigates, and is a good cruiser
option for Minmatar pilots not training in
both Shield and Armor skills. Although not
in the same league as the newer navy
cruisers, the Bellicose remains a sound pick
for most uses, especially long-range
combat. One of the knocks on the ship is its
split weapons system, which requires
added training, and difficulties encountered
fitting it with weaponry. For basic combat
and PvE, the Minmatar Rupture or Stabber
are considered better selections, although
the Bellicose is stronger for EWAR uses.
Within PvP gangs the Bellicose can be
deadly in the right hands, with two target
painters, ECMs, heavy missiles and EWAR
drones. (When in a gang, lighting the
primary ship with a T2 painter increases the
damage of all other ships in gang, and
allows for better drone efficiency in addition
to guns and missiles.)
Minmatar Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret Rate
of Fire and 7.5% bonus to target painter
effectiveness per skill level.
RuptureAlthough slow for a Minmatar ship, the
Rupture is all about power, even
outgunning the Stabber, thanks to its
greater number of high slots, thicker armor,
two added low slots and extensive power
grid. Due to its overwhelming weaponry,
the Minmatar Republic uses it to defend
space stations and other stationary objects,
as well as in enormous attack formations.
The Rupture does come at a higher price
than the Stabber, and requires more skills
to fly it.
28
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Minmatar Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret firing
speed and 5% bonus to Medium Projectile
Turret damage per level.
ScytheAs the oldest Minmatar ship in use, the
legendary Scythe has seen its shared of
battles. Thanks to new firmware upgrades
“borrowed” from the Caldari, the Scythe
has greatly bolstered its mining capacity.
Minmatar Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
20% bonus to mining laser yield and 3.5%
bonus to tracking links per level.
Role Bonus: Receive a 500% bonus to
range of tracking links.
StabberThe staple of the Minmatar fleet, the
Stabber is light, incredibly quick and
deceivingly powerful, offering a wide range
of weaponry, a blanket-like bonus to
projectiles and a nice bonus to speed (5%
bonus to base velocity per cruiser level),
making it easily the fastest ship available.
Due to these features, and its affordable
price tag, it is one of the select Minmatar
ships to gain popularity outside Minmatar
territory, even though it has very few slots
for a combat ship. It is best used speed-fit
as a training vessel for Vagabonds, but
makes a solid heavy tackler in the hands of
a skilled pilot.
Minmatar Cruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret firing
speed and 5% bonus to max velocity per
level.

The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
CHAPTER SEVEN:
BATTLECRUISERS
mid combat vessels,
battlecruisers are the next step
above cruisers, and one rung
below battleships. They’re kind of like big
cruisers, with medium-sized guns and often
much better tank, albeit with slower speeds
than the smaller cruisers. Battlecruisers are
popular for both for PvE and PvP because of
their lower price, lower requirements,
generally good DPS and tank, and ability to
handle all Level 3 and many Level 4
missions.
A
In PvP, these ships are absolute Cruiser
killers, at half the cost of a heavy assault
ship. For PvE battlecruisers can assist well
for Level 4 missions, but it’s dangerous to
attempt these solo. It also makes an
efficient vessel for Level 2 missions since it
offers some slots for salvaging/looting
mods.
Note: All battlecruisers receive a
bonus 99% reduction in the CPU need
of Warfare Link modules.
There are generally two different
battlecruiser designs per race:
Race Ships
Amarr Harbinger, Prophecy
Caldari Drake, Ferox
Gallente Brutix, Myrmidon
Minmatar Cyclone, Hurricane
AmarrHarbinger
On the battlefield, the Harbinger
immediately makes its presence known as
a force to be reckoned with, between its
formidable appearance, deadly turrets and
fleet of drones. Tread lightly.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Provides a
10% reduction in laser capacitor need and
5% bonus to laser damage per level.
30
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Prophecy
The Prophecy is based upon on an
ancient Amarrian warship design. It was
originally conceived to serve as a full-blown
battleship, but after field testing was
relegated to the role of a smaller, more
agile type of artillery support.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Provides a
10% reduction in Medium Energy Weapon
capacitor use and 5% bonus to all armor
resistances per level.
CaldariDrake
Crafted with Caldari skill and artistry, the
Drake depends upon a classic arsenal of
missile weapons for general combat
purposes, as well as considerable CPU
capabilities for Electronic Warfare.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adds 5%
shield resistance and 5% bonus kinetic
damage of heavy missiles and heavy
assault missiles.
Ferox
Created to look as terrifying as it is
lethal, the mighty Ferox has the potential to
pack some serious weaponry and boasts
stunning electronic warfare capability,
making the ship ideal for numerous
applications.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret optimal
range and 5% bonus to all Shield
resistances per level.
GallenteBrutix
Tough-skinned and armed to kill, the
Brutix is one of the most feared vessels in
the Gallente fleet. These massive ships can
play a decisive role in the outcome of a
confrontation.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a 5%
bonus to Medium Hybrid Turret damage
and 7.5% bonus to Armor Repairer
effectiveness per level.
31
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Myrmidon
Intentionally designed to foster
conservative tactics, the Myrmidon is a
tougher version of its counterpart, intended
for greater survivability. It calls upon
multiple medium and high slots to churn
through enemies, as well as its vast drone
space.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a 10%
increase to drone hitpoints and damage
dealt by drones, and 7.5% increase to
armor repair amount per level.
MinmatarCyclone
The Cyclone was the result of spiking
demand for a ship that can guard frigate
detachments, yet still be more mobile than
a battleship. The vessel’s eight high-power
slots and roaring thrusters have made the
Cyclone ideal for such uses.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adds a 5%
bonus to Medium Projectile Turret rate of
fire and 7.5% bonus to shield boosting per
level.
Hurricane
This ship’s name is more than
appropriate, since it hits as hard as a
natural disaster, leaving destruction in its
wake. A versatile craft, it the turret
hardpoints needed for a full-scale assault,
yet remains flexible enough for missile fire,
with both the speed to burn enemies and
the capacitor charge to out-endure them.
Battlecruiser Skill Bonus: Adss a 5%
increase in projectile weapons damage and
Rate of Fire.

CHAPTER EIGHT:
BATTLESHIPSattleships are one of the most
used ships in Eve Online. They
are the foundations of any
legitimate fighting force and the best Tier 1
ships available, and can be fitted both for
maximum DPS and maximum tank
purposes. For combat-hungry pilots, getting
your first battleship is a major milestone.
BBattleships are often used for large-scale
PvP combat and Level 4 PvE missions. As
the tank/artillery of traditional PvP, the
battleship is plodding, but offers superb
range, high DPS and strong tanking. They
can be utilized in gangs or solo, but one
should use caution when using them alone
in PvP, because these slow, heavily-armed
vessels can run into trouble with small, PvP-
tailored ships (i.e. frigates, assault ships
and short-range cruisers). Many battleships
use drones and missiles in such instances.
In PvE, battleships can soundly run Level
3 missions solo, and handles Level 4 runs
well if working within a small fleet. It can
solo Level 4 missions, but you should only
consider it if you have high skills in most
areas.
There are three battleship designs per
race:
Race Ships
Amarr Abaddon, Apocalypse, Armageddon
Caldari Raven, Rokh, Scorpion
Gallente Dominix, Hyperion, Megathron
Minmatar Maelstrom, Tempest, Typhoon
33
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
AmarrAbaddon
The Abaddon is geared for aggressive
combat tactics, utilizing high rates of fire
and strong fight survivability. It’s a strong
Level 4 choice, even though it is far from
bargain-priced. It’s armor bonus makes it a
powerful tank, although the Apocalypse
may have the edge in DPS.
Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds a
5% bonus to Large Energy Turret damage
and 5% armor resistance per level.
ApocalypseThere was a time when the only pilots
who could even dream of commanding one
of these awesome ships were the
Emperor’s select circle. Though much more
readily available now, these symbols of
Amarrian might are no less ominous or
inspiring.
Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus:
Provides a 10% bonus to Large Energy
Turret capacitor use and 7.5% bonus to
Large Energy Turret optimal range per
level.
Armageddon
The formidable Armageddon is the
primary warship used by the Amarr Empire.
Boasting heavy armaments and a powerful
front, the ship is designed to smash into
whatever level of space conflict it
encounters, like a battering ram.
Amarr Battleship Skill Bonus: Offers
a 10% bonus to Large Energy Turret
capacitor use and 5% Large Energy Turret
rate of fire per level.
CaldariRaven
The cornerstone of the Caldari Navy, the
Raven boasts myriad launcher slots and
strong shields.
Caldari Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
a 5% bonus to Cruise and Siege Launcher
Rate Of Fire and 10% bonus to Cruise
Missile and Torpedo Velocity per level.
34
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Rokh
The Rokh was designed to meet the
Caldari State’s need for an appropriate
hybrid platform. A true fleet vessel, this
long-range, resilient warrior will be the
center of the action for a long time to
come.
Caldari Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
10% large hybrid optimal range per level
and 5% shield resistance per level.
ScorpionNot much is known about the
capabilities of the Scorpion-class battleship
as of yet, as it was launched only recently,
and exists mostly as prototypes. Early intel
suggests the Scorpion is loaded to the gills
with complex hi-tech electronics that only a
select few opponents can match.
Caldari Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
a 15% bonus to ECM Target Jammer
strength per level; 20% bonus to ECM
Target Jammer optimal and falloff range per
level; 20% Bonus to ECM Burst Range per
level.
GallenteDominix
One of the old warhorses from the
Gallente-Caldari War, the Dominix is
definitely no longer the ship to beat, but
still has plenty to offer. Its rugged body and
explosive weapons batteries spell doom for
anyone not flying the biggest and scariest
battleships in space.
Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
a 5% bonus to Large Hybrid Turret damage
and 10% bonus to drone hitpoints and
damage per skill level.
HyperionThe Federation Navy hired top minds in
ship design to create the perfect blaster
platform to complete their elite arsenal. The
result was one of the most terrifying and
well-rounded gunships EVE players will ever
encounter.
Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
5% to large hybrid weapon damage and
7.5% bonus to armor repair amount of
armor repair systems per level.
35
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Megathron
The Megathron is one of the most
dreaded and admired battleships in space.
Since first appearing nearly two decades
ago, it has been called upon to serve time
and time again in the Federation’s
problematic outskirts regions.
Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus: Adds
a 5% bonus to Large Hybrid Turret damage
and 7.5% bonus to Large Hybrid Turret
tracking speed per level.
MinmatarMaelstrom
Versatility is the Maelstrom’s strong
point; its defensive capabilities make it
perfect for small raid groups or soloing,
while its eight turret hardpoints create
opportunities for massive battle damage.
Minmatar Battleship Skill Bonus:
Adds a 5% bonus to Large Projectile Turret
Rate of Fire per level; 7.5% bonus to Shield
Boost Amount per level.
Tempest
One of the Republic Fleet's main vessels,
the Tempest is a versatile craft skilled at
long-range assaults, and is able to rain
down specialized damage types with great
success. In a fleet battle, it is a proven fact
that a well-rounded squadron of Tempests
can be a crucial wild card.
Minmatar Battleship Skill Bonus:
Adds a 5% bonus to Large Projectile Turret
Rate of Fire per level; 5% bonus to Large
Projectile Turret damage per level.
TyphoonLove it or hate it, the Typhoon seems to
always be at the center of debate. Its key

CHAPTER NINE:
ASSAULT SHIPS
ough and menacing, assault
ships are rebuilt versions of the
Tech 1 frigates, engineered for
full-on combat. There’s not usually space
for much tank on these, so you’ll need to
make sure you either don’t get hit, or that
you eliminate your target before it
eliminates you. Assault ships are some of
the fastest ships in EVE online, and are a
top choice for pirates and PvPers. They are
generally equipped with whatever weapons
they receive bonuses for. Those piloting
these craft must be sure to stay clear of
web distance, or suffer a quick death.
T
It’s certainly possible to run at least
Level 3 missions with an assault ship, but
it’s usually inadvisable, since they don’t
deliver enough DPS, and aren’t suitable as
tanks. That said, they’re great to employ for
Level 1 and 2 missions as you work up to
Levels 3 and 4. The ship’s small gun size
befits Level 1 and 2 missions, whereas
larger ships (and guns) are mostly used for
Level 3 and 4 missions.
Each race has multiple assault ship
designs:

Strong, sturdy and packing a punch, the
Retribution features classical Amarrian
design elements. What this warbird forgoes
in speed and agility it overcompensates for
with its broad array of firepower options
and tough-as-nails defensive traits.

of Ishukone holdings, and to provide
greater muscle and prominence amid the
perpetual cold war between Caldari
megacorps police forces. Even though it’s
still a rarity, the Harpy has already built up
a considerable reputation, serving as a
lethal rail gun platform with long-range

comparatively weak on defenses, its
versatility affords operators a wide berth
when configuring loadouts. First conceived

Freki is almost never seen in combat, since
few were ever produced. Instead, it is often
awarded to pilots for superiority in combat.

CHAPTER NINETEEN:
RECON SHIPSn essence, recon ships are cruisers
engineered for reconnaissance and
electronic warfare. There are two
types of recon ships, which are both Tech 2
cruisers: force recon ships, which are used
to warp while cloaked, rapidly destroy
enemies and enable other ships to jump in
behind lines; the other type are combat
recon ships, which are used for electronic
warfare, primarily to obliterate enemy
logistics.
I
Force recon ships are a cruiser version of
covert ops frigates. They aren’t as resilient
as combat recon ships, but are quite
effective nonetheless, thanks to their skill
at interfacing with covert ops cloaking
devices and creating cynosural fields for
incoming capital ships. On the other hand,
combat recon ships were built almost
exclusively for electronic warfare, and have
onboard attributes created to optimize
electronic countermeasure modules.
Combat recon ships are cutting-edge with
regard to anti-support support. They are
lethal opponents in smaller battles,
between their strong defenses and
electronic wizardry.
Note: Force Recon ships can all fit
covert cynosural field generators. All
Force Recon ships receive a role bonus
80% reduction in liquid ozone
consumption for cynosural field
generation and 50% reduction in
cynosural field duration.

CHAPTER TWENTY:
COMMAND SHIPS
rmed with advanced command
module interfaces, command
ships are built to rain mayhem
on large battlefields, and can turn the tide
in any engagement. Command Ships are
battlecruiser-class vessels designed to aid
allies in battle, and are the backbone of any
serious EVE online fleet. Command ships
enhance the rest of the fleet with their
gang modules, and can also deal damage if
needed.
A
Each race has two different types of
command ships: one is aimed entirely at
fleet support; and the other is a balanced
craft with higher DPS that can also be used
solo. Field command ships are geared more
for full-on combat than fleet command
ships, even though both vessels can hold
their own in battle. Fleet command ships
personify the highest levels of warfare link
efficiency; although they don’t pack the
same wicked punch as their field command
counterparts, the boosts they give their
fellow ships make them indispensable
assets for any fleet.
Note: All field command ships
receive a role bonus 99% reduction in
Warfare Link module CPU need; all
fleet command ships also receive a
role bonus 99% reduction in Warfare
Link module CPU need, but can also
use three Warfare Link modules
simultaneously.

punch, but there doesn’t appear to be a
sole well-rounded fit. The ship can excel at
any T3 role, will generally have glaring
weaknesses as well. The big advantage of
flying the Loki over a ship like the Sleipnir is
the Loki’s Covert subsystem and its
resulting ability to run with BO gangs.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO:
CARRIERSarriers are capital warships that
can transport and deploy scores
of smaller ships amid full-on
battle. Like seafaring carriers, these vessels
are fleet ships, not be used alone for ratting
or other solo runs. Carriers are for
experienced pilots only; their strength is
from their drones, particularly the deadly
fighter drones, which can actually warp
around the system. Carrier pilots are a
clutch asset to a fleet, because they can
pour on a ton of DPS, and also perform
support roles like repairing and capacitor-
boosting. Carriers themselves cannot fit
any weapons themselves; they should be
used in a fleet with protection from other
eve online ships.

CaldariChimera
The design of the Chimera is based upon
the historical Caldari ship the Kairiola,
which was essentially a water freighter
refitted during the Gallente-Caldari war to
act as a fighter carrier.
Caldari Carrier Skill Bonuses: Adds a

flagship, the Oryioni-Haru. The Wyvern’s
varied applications in deep space ensure a
legacy of purpose for this ship in the ages
to come.

Thanatos
The basic reason for designing the
Thanatos was the need for a lower-cost
version of the Nyx. Engineered to act as a
fighter carrier for small- to mid-size fights, it
has serious defensive attributes and
specially-fitted fighter bays.
Gallente Carrier Skill Bonuses: Adds

Rather than honoring legendary
statesmen or ancient vessels, the Hel was
inspired by a terrifying razor-toothed shark
indigenous to old-world Matar. Since its
inception the Hel has remained cloaked in
secrecy; very few insiders are aware of the
ship’s development and attributes. It’s
obviously a war machine in every sense of
the word, from its Spartan living quarters to
its frightening appearance.

DREADNOUGHTS
he strongest long-range

the enormous dreadnoughts are
not a vessel you use alone. They inflict
devastating damage on lone targets, and
can destroy stationary or slow targets
rapidly. The enemy uses huge guns, which
are generally ineffective against small
targets, but excellent against other capital
ships, fleets of battleships and player
owned starbases (POS). It is very expensive
and you need to train a lot of skills to be
able to fly one.

CaldariPhoenix
The Phoenix is another classic Caldari
design, with a modified missile interface,
unbeatable targeting arrays and top-flight
shield systems. It is considered the
strongest long-range installation attacker in
the game, however it does have its
weaknesses, too: when properly equipped,
its shield boosting actuators permit the
Phoenix to take a serious beating over a
short period, its defenses can’t weather a
lengthy, sustained attack. Give it a tough
backup force, though, and you’d better look
out.
Caldari Dreadnought Skill Bonus:
Adds a 5% bonus to kinetic missile damage
and 5% bonus to Capital Launcher rate of

GallenteMoros
The well-rounded Moros may have the
greatest capacity in its class for fending off
smaller enemies on its own, while still
keeping its main objective in its crosshairs.
The Moros can single-handedly decide the
fate of a fleet battle, thanks to a stunning
assortment of point defenses, such as its
ultra-roomy drone bay.
Gallente Dreadnought Skill Bonus:
Adds a 5% bonus to Capital Hybrid Turret

MinmatarNaglfar
The design of the Naglfar was based on
an ancient Matari pattern. Its wields a
dizzying array of firepower options, capable
of keeping the ship in the fight under all
situations. Its defenses aren’t as
impenetrable as others in its class, however
its uniform resilience and staggering total
DPS make it a powerful component within

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: INDUSTRIAL
SHIPSndustrial ships are trader’s ships,
used for transportation—they’re
haulers—and are an important part
of the industrial system of EVE Online,
because of their cheap price, low skill
requirements and high speed compared to
other freighters (even though they are still
slow). They are mainly used to transport
items, even small vessels, and have limited
defensive capabilities.

Badger Mark IIFor transporting extremely valuable
goods, the military and mega corps use the
new Mark II version of the classic Badger.
The new incarnation features increased
high-tech gadgetry and greater defenses,
for a combination that’s tough for other
freighters to beat.
Caldari Industrial Skill Bonus: Adds a

GallenteIteron (Marks I through V)
Speedy, dependable and available in
multiple models, the Iteron-class cargo ship
is a favorite of both civilians and the
military. It’s inexpensive and can be fitted
numerous ways, so it can haul pretty much
everything. One downside is its weak
defenses, which make it dependent on an
escort in dangerous areas.
Gallente Industrial Skill Bonus: Adds
a 5% bonus to Cargo Capacity and Max
Velocity per skill level.
MinmatarHoarder
The Hoarder is the second in the pecking
order among Minmatar industrial craft; it
lacks the Mammoth’s power, but offers
ample cargo space for its low price. It
makes a sound choice for working in
peaceful regions or when guarded by an
escort.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX: FREIGHTERS
reighters are the backbone of
commerce in EVE Online, hauling
massive heaps of resources
through the universe. They are slow, costly
and require many skills, but if you need to
move vast quantities of cargo from point A
to B, this is the way. Freighters hold about
25 times more than a maxed-out hauler.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT:
TRANSPORT SHIPS
ransport Ships offer innovative
technologies invented to aid the
transportation of valuable items
and cargo. They are specialized industrial
ships, used for working in dangerous areas.
They are faster, tougher and more powerful
than their Tech 1 counterparts, but far
more skill.
TEach race has two types of transport
ships: one blockade runner, and one deep
space transporter. The blockade runners
are built to withstand a gatecamp or attack,
while the deep space transporters are used
in friendly space, tapping their larger cargo
capacity over standard industrial ships.
Deep space transports possess defenses
beyond regular industrial ships, so they
provide excellent protection for cargo. They
are, however, some of the slowest ships
around.
Meanwhile, blockade runner transports
are the fastest industrial ships available,
utilizing strong and lightweight materials
and sacrificing some cargo space, enabling
them to reach speeds greater than a
cruiser, while withstanding heavy fire.
These factors make them ideal for flying
through dangerous territories with precious
cargo. Each race has two designs:

LOGISTICSogistics ships are support vessels
built to lend field assistance
during large-scale combat. They
are the “healers” of Eve Online’s ships;
these Tech 2 variants of cruisers boost

CHAPTER THIRTY: O.R.E.
SHIPShere are several different types of
O.R.E. mining ships, and multiple
models within each different
category:
TType Ships
Capital Industrial Ships
Orca, Rorqual
Mining Barges Covetor, Procurer, Retriever
Exhumers Hulk, Mackinaw, Skiff
Capital ShipsThere are two capital industrial ships in
EVE Online: the Orca and Rorqual. Both are
used as support for mining operations,
transporting and boosting mining barges
and exhumers. The Orca, however, is also a
hauler, and can be a nice alternative to
freighters with the right fitting. They are
super expensive and skill-intensive, and
need lots of industrial and leadership skills
to fly well. They are often owned by
corporations and not individuals, since they
are costly, vulnerable when alone and not
overly helpful without a gang for support.
They all fit jump drives, and can support
large fleet operations.
OrcaOuter Ring Excavations and Deep Core
Mining Inc. developed the Orca as a joint
venture, to create a vessel geared toward
the needs of New Eden's industry and offer
a versatile platform for managing mining
operations. Using plenty of the technology
O.R.E. developed for the Rorqual,
integrated with Deep Core Mining research
division’s newest bells and whistles has
resulted in a ship suited to all sizes of
demands and missions.

94
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
Rorqual
As an answer to the increasing need for
capital industry platforms that can support
and maintain large mining operations in
remote stretches of space, Outer Ring
Excavations produced the Rorqual, a ship
whose main attribute is its ability to grind
ore into smaller particles than previously
possible, without altering their molecular
makeup. As a result, the ship can haul
massive quantities of compressed ore in its
40,000 m3 capacity hold.
The Rorqual can also fit a capital tractor
beam, which can retrieve cargo from much
further distances and at significantly higher
than smaller beams. In addition it features
an expansive drone bay, jump drive tech
and the capability to fit a clone vat bay. In
all, the sum of these components makes
the Rorqual the perfect hub for deep space
mining. (Note: Since its specialization is
industrial ops, its ship maintenance bay can
only accommodate industrial ships, mining
barges and their Tech 2 variants.)
Capital Industrial Ships Skill
Bonuses: -5% reduction in fuel
consumption for industrial cores per level;
5% bonus to effectiveness of mining
foreman gang links per level when in
deployed mode; 50% bonus to the range of
Capital Shield Transporters per level; 20%
bonus to drone damage and hitpoints per
level.
Role Bonuses: 900% bonus to the
range of survey scanners; 200% bonus to
the range of cargo scanners; 99% reduction
in CPU need for Gang Link modules; can fit
Clone Vat Bay; can use three Gang Link
modules simultaneously.
Mining BargesMining barges are the first of the
specialized mining ships players attain in
EVE Online. They are made in three types:
the Procurer, Retriever and Covetor. Since
the Retriever earns double mining income,
wait to buy your first mining barge until you
can afford it, because the Procurer isn’t a
huge upgrade compared to the mining
cruisers, and you can buy the Retriever not
longer after starting with a Procurer. The
Retriever and Covetor are sound ships for
prospective miners, before moving on the
exhumers. Barges are generally cheap, and
don’t require a lot of skills.
Mining barges come equipped with
electronic subsystems designed to
accommodate Strip Mining modules. Paired
with their sizable cargo hold and a
95
The Unofficial EVE Online Ship Guide
respectable drone bay, they’re highly
productive ore extractors. They are slow
and have limited defenses, but have a
good-sized cargo hold and can boost strip
miners.
Note: All mining barges are able to
equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester
turrets. These ships also receive a
Mining Barge skill bonus of a 3%
better yield for Strip Miners per level.
CovetorThe O.R.E. Syndicate designed the
Covetor’s ship class to aid the vaulting of
the mining trade to new heights of
efficiency and productivity, and this ship is
the largest of that class.
ProcurerThe Procurer is the smallest of the
mining barge class.
RetrieverThe Retriever is the medium-sized
version of the mining barge ship class.
ExhumersExhumers, like mining barges, come
standard with electronic subsystems
designed to accommodate Strip Mining.
They are also far more resilient and can
better handle the dangers of deep space.
These lumbering, insatiable ships were
expressly created for ore accumulation, so
if you are a miner, the exhumers are your
best bet. These are specialized, Tech 2
versions of the more basic mining barges,
and crucial to any successful industrialist.
Exhumers come in three different
editions; each specialized for one type of
mining. The Skiff is made to handle the
valuable Mercoxit ore, the Mackinaw is used
for ice mining and the big mighty Hulk is
used for all the other types. Exhumers are
the Eve Online mining ships of choice, with
generally double the cargo of mining
barges, stopping at a place for better
bonuses and greater defensive capabilities.
Note: All Exhumers are able to
equip Strip Miner and Ice Harvester
turrets. These ships also receive a
Mining Barge skill bonus of a 3%
better yield for Strip Miners per level,
and a 7.5% bonus to all shield
resistances per level.
96

Hulk
The Hulk, with its 8,000 m3 cargo
capacity, is the largest ship in the Exhumer
class. Clearly, the Hulk is the most effective
mining ship available.
Exhumers Skill Bonus: 3% better yield
for Strip Miners per level; 3% reduction in
Ice Harvester duration per level.
MackinawThe Mackinaw is the O.R.E. Syndicate’s
medium-sized version of its Exhumer-class
mining ships. It is a specialty vessel, best
suited for ice mining.
Exhumers Skill Bonus: 5% reduction
in Ice Harvester duration per level.
Role Bonus: 100% bonus Ice Harvester
yield but 25% penalty to ice harvester
duration.
SkiffThe Skiff is the smallest of the O.R.E.
Syndicate’s Exhumer-class mining ships.
Skiffs are specialty vessels, engineered to
mine Mercoxit.
Exhumers Skill Bonus: 60% bonus to
Mercoxit Mining Crystal yield multiplier per
level; 20% reduced chance of Mercoxit gas
cloud forming per level.
Role Bonus: +2 warp strength.

Goru Nikainen's Shuttle.
Gurista ShuttleA Caldari Shuttle used by the Guristas
organization.
Interbus ShuttleWhen Interbus commissioned Duvolle
Laboratories to build an upgraded shuttle in
YC 106, they produced this vessel, which
pairs a compact footprint with a respectably
roomy cargo hold, making it ideal for the
company’s multipurpose transportation
services. The ship was a guarded,
proprietary Interbus vehicle for five years,
and then was offered to select capsuleer
pilots in a marketing campaign for the
Interbus brand, in an attempt to tap into
the multiplying capsuleer constituency.
Still, it’s pretty much a rare bird to spot,
and is largely just an expensive collector's
item.
FrigatesEnigma
As the name implies, everything about
this ship is a mystery.
EchoWhen pirate activity made Asteroid
mining a much more dangerous
proposition, the first prototype Echo assault
frigate was developed and produced by the
Indocon Corporation.
Silver MagnateAn exquisitely appointed ship in a class
unto itself, the Magnate frigate has been
the special pet project for an exclusive
group of royal ship engineers for more than
a decade. During this lengthy span of
research, the design has underwent
multiple stages, with each prototype raising
the bar in frigate design. The Silver issue is
one of the most recent installments in this
line of excellence.

Apocalypse Imperial IssueIt almost goes without saying that an
imperial issue of the cataclysmic
Apocalypse, crafted by master engineers
and built in the Emperor’s personal
shipyards, will certainly be something to
behold. It’s given solely as an award for
those who have demonstrated exemplary
fealty to the Emperor, and is considered a
tremendous honor to command—let alone
own—one of these towering battleships.

Other Ships
ZephyrThe Zephyr was first envisioned by
Valsas en Dilat as an exercise in minimalist
design, never intended as a commercial
venture. But the recent discovery of the
uncharted Sleeper Territories, and their
countless wormholes, has ignited new
interest in the Zephyr - its mass makes it
an ideal exploration vessel. An entirely
unique spacecraft design, the Zephyr relies
almost exclusively on solar winds for its

sublight propulsion, with ultra-light sails
that enable it to ride streams of photons
rushing through space, with only a small
sensor footprint and very little mass.
Special Abilities: Can fit Prototype Iris
Probe Launcher; will not be targeted by
Sleeper drones.
