house. There will be photos of suitable plants for different conditions and advice on how to keep them living and beautiful.

v Summertime
A word that evokes memories from childhood. Long, sunny days tramping through fields and woods. Swinging from a hayloft on a thick hemp rope, flying through the air, and landing in the scratchy, sweet smelling hay. Family camping trips to Lake Erie. Going to my grandparents’ house up in the Adirondacks. Maybe your memories are similar, bucolic experiences that make you nostalgic and for a moment you feel ten years old again. Maybe your summer memories are more exciting, traveling around the country in the back of the old station wagon. Trying to “see the USA in your Chevrolet” as the old jingle urged us. Did you make annual pilgrimages to the Jersey Shore or to Orange Beach? Did you spend the summer waiting for that big trip to Disney? Maybe you hung out on the corner playing hopscotch and jumping rope, or down at the community pool diving for coins. Did you have a lemonade stand? Or spend the summer babysitting your younger siblings. Did you catch lightning bugs in jars after sundown? Lie on the grass and count the stars? My hope for you this summer that you can remember, recapture, and experience the simple joys that summer brought to you as a child. Let go of the stress of planning that trip, or the barbeque, or whatever it is that occupies your mind. Let go and just breathe. Let go and allow yourself to experience wonder again. Wonder at the night sky, the ocean waves, or the song of a bird. Live fully in that moment and recharge your soul. That’s what summer is meant to do.
Enjoy! Cynthia Shaw

ARTS & CRAFTS - DO WHAT YOU LOVE!
Hi! My name is Camille Ross and I’m excited to begin crafting with you this year. Having been a “crafter” for many years, I’m
looking forward to having fun and making projects using scrapbooking paper, glass, sharpies, paints, corks, stamps and
of course a glue gun. Arts & Crafts will MEET the 1ST WEDNESDAY of the month beginning in September. First meeting is on Wednesday September 6th from 10am to noon at
Cynthia Shaw's home. Look for examples of the finished projects at monthly luncheons, along with signup sheets
for hostessing, attending, and a supply list. My email is: bookwrm1101@gmail.com so please let me know if you have
any questions or will be a hostess for us. I’m just a happier person when I craft. How about you?
