This time of year, when it is slightly cooler, makes forperfect conditions for exploring in our ‘Bushblock’. Muddypuddles, rain drops on trees, autumn leaves and hiding incubbies is the perfect environment for extendingimagination, creativity, wondering, exploration, investigation and wellbeing for our young learners.

This week we have discovered baby tadpoles swimmingaround in the pond. What excitement there was!Questions were being posed….How did they get there?Where and what was their Mum? What will they become? What do they eat? Questions from four year olds in whichwe will inquire into and research in the coming weeks, tofind out the answers.

Our Unit of Inquiry this Term is about ‘SustainablePractices’ and ‘Caring for our Environment and Livingthings’. We have already learnt so much in the first couple

of weeks. The motivation and enthusiasm I see from theseyoung learners showing empathy, care, respect and actionis extremely heart-warming!

Amongst all of the exciting learning happening, we willsoon be welcoming a new group of learners into our EarlyLearning Centre, as they begin their Kindy transition visitswith us. We look forward to meeting them and hope theytoo can be as excited, inspired and motivated in theirlearning with us.

At Navigator College, we have been doing our bit to helpthe community get back on its feet in the midst of COVID-19, whilst immersing ourselves into Term Two learning.

This term we have asked our families to wait at the Collegegate to collect their children as a precautionary measure tohelp limit the number of adults gathered in any one space.

Whilst this has been yet another change for our community,we have reflected on the positive outcome of seeing ouryounger learners develop their resilience, problem solvingand independence at an extreme pace. We are alsonoticing many of our older siblings providing additionalcare and nurture for their younger bothers and sisters.

Our staff teams are also working effectively to ensure thatwe continue to offer a quality education here at NavigatorCollege even through these challenging changes. The team at Stotty’s Building have been busy working on

our Senior school extension, along with the team at J & LStephenson who have been working diligently at the otherend of the College as they make progress on the expansionof the Music Centre.

Out of the haze of COVID-19 a team of dedicated staffand students have been working on producing our firstever musical. The Wizard of Oz will be performed in TermThree and we can’t wait!

Navigator College is so very grateful for all members of thecommunity out there, doing their bit as essential serviceworkers, as parents and as leaders.

Despite these trying times, I see we have a lot to be thankfulfor.

Stephen Jude - Principal

‘IF WE WALK FOR ENOUGH, WE SHALLSOMETIME COME TO SOMEPLACE.”

COVID-19 SHOWING US WHAT COMMUNITY IS ALL ABOUT “As we as a nation, a state, and a community have responded to the COVID-19 situation, I have been incrediblyimpressed with the teamwork, cooperation and collaboration of members of these communities. At a time whenthe temptation could be to look after one’s own needs, it is wonderful to hear examples of those who have sacrificedtheir own needs to support the needs of others.” Stephen Jude - Principal

“It is exciting for me as an educator to see where they will take the learning and the leadership qualities they rolemodel to others in our community to encourage others to follow their example.” Kelly Freeman - Director ELC

Covid-19 has seen many workplaces have to changeand be inventive in the way they do things all aroundthe world! It is still very important for us to stayconnected with all of our Navigator playgroupfamilies.

To start this term off, Li’l Gators Playgroup has goneonline. We have planned lots of fun learning activitiesthat you can do from the comfort of your own home!It is easy to be involved. Register by calling the frontoffice.
