Asking you to name a person, living creature or made up creature.

“Who did you go for a walk with yesterday?”

Asking you to name a time of day, month, year, season,

special day or time of day.“When did you get your new skateboard?”

Asking you to name a place or a location.

“Where did you go after leaving my house on Saturday?”

May be asking you to look for an activity or action.

“What are you going to do with those skis?”

May be asking you for the kind or type of something.

“What kind of mobile phone do you have?”

Asking you to name a specific object or item. Or to name something specific, as in a direction.

Look for adjectives. “Which colour crayon do you need to

use?”“Which way did he go?”

Asking you to describe an action. Look at the adverbs and the verbs.

“How was she skating when she fell over and broke her ankle?”

Asking you to have an opinion but you need to have a reason that

makes sense from what is in the text or makes sense for the

character. Don’t go off the topic.

answer different types of questions and have an opportunity to identify what type of

question they are answering.
