Re-Training Programmes • Additional education/training is a continual qualification
improvement process run to meet enhancing strengthening of requirements of federal educational standards. o Federal Act “On Education”
• Standardisation is a dynamic and rapidly developing area; experts need to improve their qualifications continually .
• In practice, educational establishments offering special professional re-training programmes (additional education programmes) often fill gaps in curricula of higher school establishments and implement continual improvement principle in practice. o If you’ve got a new employee, first of all send him to an
appropriate professional re-training course.
• ASMC runs professional re-training (upgrading) courses in
standardisation, metrology and certification and promotes
new international standards in Russia.
• ASMC has branches in key regions of Russia, and courses
delivered in Moscow and elsewhere are addressed both to
practitioners and to university teachers.
• ASMC published “Competency” journal included in the list
of recognised journals of Russia.

• ASMC runs professional retraining courses on such issues as: o Technical regulation o Standardisation o Metrology o Measurements o Certification
o Accreditation o Quality Management o Environmental Management o Energy Management o Risk management
o Fire safety
• There are both standard/typical programmes and tailor made ones developed based on the results of training needs analysis.
• Duration of training programmes vary from 72 to 1000 hours.
Conclusions • Standardisation, Metrology and Certification issues have been
present in Russian university curricula since many decades ago.
• Technical universities lead in training bachelors and masters in
Standardisation and Metrology (about 500 graduates) and Quality Management (about 2000 graduates) annually.
• Curriculum for training economists does not contain compulsory
courses dealing with Standardisation, Metrology and Certification,
though management and merchandising related courses may cover these issues.
• Curriculum for training managers includes a reasonable
Standardisation, Metrology and Certification course as well as a
number of Management Systems related courses.
• Curriculum for training lawyers does not contain compulsory
courses dealing with Standardisation, Metrology and Certification.
Variable courses touching these issues are scarce.
• Professional re-training establishments help to fill gaps in higher school curricula developing and continually improving numerous
courses dealing with Standardisation, Metrology and Certification.
