Safe Return to School of Medicine
Overview
In view of emerging situation related to COVID-19 Pandemicin India, It is important to safeguard the principles of health, safety, fair and equalopportunities for the students. At the same time it is very crucial to ensureacademic credibility, career opportunities and future progression of students.Academic evaluation is very important milestone in any education system. Theperformance in an examination gives confidence and satisfaction to the studentsand is a reflection of competence, performance and credibility that is necessary forglobal acceptance.
Thereby, keeping in mind the present scenario and in order to maintain the safety ofstudents, teaching and non-teaching staff members;

Sanitization

teaching staff are advised to wear masksat all times during the lectures /demonstrations / practicals beingconducted.
• Tissue boxes must be easily available atplaces during the lectures/demonstrations / practicals beingconducted.
• All the teaching, non-teaching staff andstudents are advised not to sneeze onpalms , hand or surfaces without masks.One must always try to cover the facewith mask or with the elbow whilesneezing to avoid any chance oftransmission.

• Since most of the lecture series havebeen conducted online during thelockdown period, the main emphasiswould be on the practical aspect ofmedicine.
Adequate Disposal
• Areas for placing completelycovered peddal operateddisposal bins will be identifiedand placed for ease of disposal ofused tissues , gloves , masks.
• Any of the above shall be conducted inbatches for the students belonging to therespective professional year of thecourse of MBBS.

3. Only students with valid I card will be allowed entry.4. Watchman will be stationed at both points of entry for thermal screening
of entrants.5. Air-conditioner use will be minimised and windows will be kept open.6. Seating arrangement will be marked on tables as per Social Distancing
norms.

• Intimation to the parents ofstudents will be sent via emailwhich will include protocolsand guidelines for entry, exitand use of facilities available inthe School of Medicine and DYPatil Hospital premises.
• All the parents will be notifiedat least 15 days prior to dateof starting of physical classes.
Written Consent
• Informed writtenconsent will be soughtfrom all parents viaemail before date ofphysical reopening ofSchool of Medicine.
• Intimation to the parents ofstudents will be sent via emailwhich will include protocolsand guidelines for entry, exitand use of facilities available inthe School of Medicine and DYPatil Hospital premises.

Screening Protocols
Students should possess anegative report of COVID-19rapid antigen test at the time ofre-joining.
Thereafter mandatory rapidantigen test for COVID-19 willbe performed once in 6 to 10days for all students.
Testing will be performed inclassroom by technician in PPEkit.
There is no need to quarantineout of station students prior totheir joining college.
Students should possess anegative report of COVID-19rapid antigen test at the time ofre-joining.
Thereafter mandatory rapidantigen test for COVID-19 willbe performed once in 6 to 10days for all students.

• Robust mentorship program such that there is onementor for every 10 students. The mentors will report tothe Dean and establish telephonic contact with their batchof students every day.
