The Dallas Museum of Art has openedits new al fresco dining experience, SoccaMediterranean Café. The Museum’s newoutdoor food pavilion is located in therecently unveiled Eagle Family Plaza at theDMA’s north entrance and is acomplement to the DMA Café, locatedinside the Museum’s Atrium. Local chefand menu consultant Sharon Hage workedwith the DMA to develop the concept.

Featuring food options inspired byMediterranean cuisine, Socca is among thefirst restaurants to bring this dish by thesame name to Dallas. Popular throughoutthe Mediterranean coast, socca is a savorychickpea crêpe found in southern Franceand is a specialty of Nice. The entrée,which is naturally gluten free, is similar inappearance to a golden crêpe, and isperfect for topping with fresh salads orenjoying au naturel. Growing in appeal inthe U.S., socca has recently been featuredin such national press outlets as In Stylemagazine and the New York Times and onseveral well-read food blogs.

The crêpe will be topped withcontemporary, Mediterranean-inspiredingredients, from the savory—burrata, prosciutto, roast chicken and artichoke

salad—to the sweet—house-groundalmond butter with bananas and localhoney. In addition to this quick and healthylunch or afternoon snack, Socca will offershareable platters of artisan cured meatsand local cheese, and a signature hummuswith marinated olives and crisp veggies.Beverages include homemade seasonalfruit limeade and a selection of wines andlocal beers served on tap.
