"Skype" have been evolving during

the past two years:

The original "Skype" runs as an

application or app.

The newer "Skype for Web (beta)"

runs in some Web browsers.

In "Windows 10" computers, "Skype"

also runs as an "universal app" called

"Skype Video".

• "Skype Video" :

Only available inside "Windows 10" as

a bundled part of the operating system.

You have to log into "Windows 10" with

a "Microsoft Account to use the "Skype

Video" universal app.

You cannot use a "Skype Account".

"Skype Video" misleads you into

believing that you can only use a

"Microsoft Account" to run Skype.

12

"Get Skype"

in "Windows 10"

• "Get Skype" is a wizard in

the "Start Menu" that

helps you download and

install the "Skype for

Windows" program.

USING SKYPE

• Here are some tricks for using

"Skype":

21

If you lose the presenter's

displayed contents

(headshot, video, or shared

screen), you can usually

get it back by clicking once

on the presenter's name in

the Skype "Contacts" list:

22

23

24

25

Double-click on the

presenter's displayed

contents (his/her headshot,

video, or shared screen) to

maximize it. This makes

Skype's "Contacts" list,

"call bar", and chat box

disappear:

26

27

28

Double-click again on the

presenter's displayed

contents to restore

Skype's "Contacts" list,

"call bar", and chat box:

29

30

31

You can also restore the

displayed content to normal

size (displaying Skype's

"Contacts", "call bar", and

text chat box), by clicking on

the button on the left end of

the Skype "Call Bar":

32

33

34

After about 10 seconds

and if you do not move

the mouse cursor, the

Skype "Call Bar"

autohides:

35

36

37

To get the Skype "Call

Bar" to show up, shake

the mouse or click

once on the displayed

content:

38

39

40

To restore the displayed

content to normal size

(displaying the Skype

"Contacts", "call bar", and

text chat box), you can also

click on the button in the

upper-right corner:

41

42

43

At any single point in time,

only one of the participants

in a Skype session can

share a screen with the

other participant(s).

44

If a Skype session participant is sharing

their screen and second Skype

session participant initiates screen

sharing:

All of the other participants will see

the screen of the person that just

initiated their screen sharing with the

exception of the person who was

originally sharing their screen:

45

For the original screen sharing

participant, their screen sharing will

be terminated and their Skype window

will be minimized. When this person

restores or maximizes their Skype

windows, they will see the screen

sharing of the second person who

initiated screen sharing.

46

When you close the Skype window by

clicking on the "X" button in its upper

right-hand corner, Skype minimizes to

the "Taskbar" as a "Task button". At

this point Skype is still running as a

background, memory-resident

application. To really shut it down, you

have to use the RIGHT mouse button

to click on the Skype "Task button".

Then click on "Quit Skype" in the pop-

up "Task List".

47

To learn to use "Skype",

you can view the free

videos at

http://www.skype.com/e

n/essentials/windows-

desktop/

48

When using "Skype for Web

(beta)", you cannot share

your screen and you cannot

receive another party's

shared screen.

49

When using "Skype Video"

(in Windows 10), you

cannot share your screen

but you can receive a

shared screen from another

party.

50

When using "Skype Video"

(in Windows 10), you have

to be already logged in with

your "Microsoft Account"

and you cannot use a

"Skype Account".

51

Drag a file into the Chat area

to send it to all other parties

in a Skype session.
