SIFHAMS International Graduate Winter School (2020)

Scientific Tradition in Islamic CivilizationUniversity of Sharjah

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, 12 - 24 January 2020

Background Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS) in collaboration with Islamic Science Institute

(ISI), Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) and I Institute of Physics (IP), University of Cologne, invites participants to a yearly

graduate winter school. It organizes intensive graduate course study and training at MA and PhD levels on the contributions of Muslims

to the science throughout the history of Islamic civilization. This is the first winter school co-organized by SIFHAMS, ISI and IP, where

the school comprise of a -10 day intensive interdisciplinary courses on the history of science and technology in Islamic civilization. It is

involved with academic activities like training, research methodology and experimental history of sciences. Lectures are conducted by

experts in the field locally and internationally.

Notes• Certificate of Transferable 3 Credit Hours & 30 hours of direct research and instructions;

• Food and accommodation for participants will be covered by the organizers;

• Limited number of scholarships is available to cover travel expenses for the students who cannot find funding from other sources. Students

should have their own health insurance coverage as well as Visa Entry to the United Arab Emirates;

• Afternoon Activities: Tutorials, UoS Library, Meeting with Different College Lecturers and other Members of the Institutions of the UoS, etc.

• Places are limited. Program language is English.
