Women’s Guild Retreat for both Men and Women, Saturday, September 29th, Fr. Denis Hall

What are your treasures?

Join us for our spiritual day of reflection led by Dottie O'Connor, no stranger to OLM (many of you have attended her Conversations on Catholicism). Dottie spent 12 years as the Adult Sacramental Coordinator at the Cathedral of Christ the King and then another five years as a Pastoral Care Associate. She holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education and has gra-ciously offered to lead us in an afternoon of prayerful reflection on the theme, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven” (Matthew 6:20).

Our day will begin between 11:00 and 11:15 a.m. with registration. The cost is $5 and we ask that you bring your own lunch. The Guild will offer drinks at lunch, and dessert and coffee later in the day. This retreat is open to both women and men of the parish and all are welcome. Please use the signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex, so that the Guild will know how many plan to attend and can prepare accordingly. Questions? Contact Kathy Crawford, 706-268-2176, bigcanoenana@hotmail.com. Please don’t miss this blessed opportunity to draw closer to our Lord and His ways!

Capital Campaign

CFF BAKE SALE, NEXT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH, AFTER THE 11:00 A.M. MASS WE NEED BAKERS!

All you bakers out there, we need your help to make our one-time bake sale a huge success! We need savory and sweet goodies of all kinds: cakes, pies, quiche, etc. If you can help us by baking, please use the signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex. All profits will go to World Vision, a program that will enable our students to sponsor a child in poverty. Our students will receive the name of the child and updates on how our donation is helping that child with the essentials of life, starting with clean water. Thank you so much for your support in this Corporal Work of Mercy!

DIDACHE WEDNESDAY! SEPTEMBER 26TH

6:30 P.M. FR. DENIS HALL

Fr. Byrd will offer an extraordinary Didache Wednesday session September 26th after the 6:00 p.m. Mass. He does not have a prepared presentation, but instead will open

the floor for a frank discussion about the recent scandals in the Church. The evening’s discussions will go wherever the questions take us. Because of the topic, this Didache may not be appropriate for all ages, as it will necessarily include adult subject matter, so consider yourselves forewarned. Father has no agenda except to try to answer questions as best he can. He is not “in the know,” nor is he an expert, but he wants to be open to us, his parishioners. If you plan to attend, please bring a potluck dish to share with everyone.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING FOR CHILDREN SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH

All CFF students will receive the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Safe Environment training on Sunday, September 16th during regular class time. If you do not want your child(ren) to attend this class, please complete and return to the Director of Religious Education Office the “opt-out” form each student has been given. Additionally, parents who choose this option must keep their child(ren) with them during the class period. More information on this mandatory program is available at https://archatl.com/ministries-services/safe-environment/parent-information/.

Looping Technology for the Hearing Impaired

Jesus said to them in reply, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear….”

A year after our testing of the Looping technology for those with hearing loss, we continue to have parishioners inquire about it. We will revisit this issue by conducting a survey this weekend and next weekend to gauge interest. If you or a family member would benefit from this, please obtain a survey card from the ushers. You can return the card to them or mail it back to the Parish Office.
