PARTICLE TECHNOLOGY

BUSINESS NEED Particles can be used to deliver consumer needed benefits from most P&G products. Transformative manipulation of them will deliver new to the world benefits, by combing previously incompatible technologies together into one product and keeping them stable; by using them to clean in safer and/or more targeted ways; and/or delivering and releasing actives in a targeted area at a specific time. OBJECTIVE Drive growth through innovative manipulation of particle shapes, sizes, and chemistries which enable performance, sustainability, and cost innovation for application in Fabric Care, Home Care, Beauty & Grooming, Oral Care, Fem Care, Baby Care, Family Care, Personal Power, Personal Health Care and Pets & Snacks. FOCUS AREAS Controlled, Triggerable Release Enable selective protection and delivery (deposition and retention) of beneficial ingredient to fabrics, hair, and skin via encapsulation, shell chemistry, particle size and shape. Trigger the active release at the right time Capture of Unwanted substances Enable removal and capture of unwanted substances using combination of fiber and particle science. Advanced Particle Structures & Properties Manipulate the sizes, shapes, and chemistries of particle structures in new ways to achieve unprecedented levels of strength, feel, optical effects, absorbency and/or physical soil removal. Manipulate sizes, shapes for absorption of particles into surfaces, skin, and hair. KEY PRINCIPLES

1. Leverage targeted Connect and Develop networks to resolve the toughest challenges. Select partners for

exploratory work in the space for demonstration of “proof of concept” and right to succeed. 2. Maximize use of modeling and simulation. 3. Technologies which travel across multiple business units 4. Work across models, methods mechanisms and molecules.
