RESTLESS LEGS - CLONAZEPAM MAY HELP

No effective treatment of primary restless legs is currently available, though the occurrence of myoclonic jerks in patients with this syndrome suggests a central nervous system cause. Three patients, 49, 57 and 61 years old, experienced marked reduction of restless leg attacks after starting c10nazepam O.5mg 1-3 times daily. Each patient had a familial history of this syndrome and usually more than I attack weekly. Attacks were associated with insomnia in all 3 patients, and myoclonus in 2. At 2-3 months' follow-up, I patient had experienced only 4 attacks of restless legs, I had had I attack, and the other patient none . . Boghen, D.: Annals of Neurology 8: 341 <Sep 1980)
