What is MOCRO? Manually Operated Compact Reflow Oven

What’s the point?

Who would buy this thing, anyway?

So, what’s the catch?

What else is out there?

If cost is an issue, you can get this oven for

under $20,000!

This series of ovens start at $23,500!

Problems with Reflow Ovens that are on the market:

Expensive

Not Space Efficient

MOCRO is the answer! Cost is a mere $500.

Size of whatever toaster oven you want.

User profiles can be saved.

Last profile used can be recalled.

Perfect for prototyping.

CONSTRAINTS

Technical/Practical

Technical Constraints• Temperature Range

MOCRO must operate from 25°C-260°C• Temperature Accuracy

MOCRO must maintain the temperature set point within a 25°C process band.

• Heating Rate MOCRO must not allow the heating rate to exceed 4°C/sec.

• Wetting Time MOCRO must ensure that adequate wetting time is maintained.

• Interface MOCRO must use a stand-alone user interface.

Practical Constraints Health and Safety

Manufacturability

TRADEOFF

Relay vs. Triac

MECHANICAL RELAY

Advantages: High power

Disadvantages: Expensive Coil draws high current Large size

TRIAC

Advantages: Low cost Small size High switching frequency

(compared to relay)

Disadvantages: Requires heat sink
