Prior to Activity:
1. Print and laminate the recipe.
2. Gather needed cooking supplies.
3. Organize the supplies in a well-marked, accessible location to promote student independence.
Activity Instructions:
1. Students take turns finding the ingredients or the tools.
2. Allow students to help prepare the food.
3. Use the visual recipe as a guide for the students.
Caution!
a. Always supervise students closely when cooking.
b. Follow proper food handling protocols.
c. Adults should always complete activities involving hot items or use of the oven.
d. Be aware of student allergies.

For students just learning to follow a visual recipe: a. Complete the first steps for (or with) the student.b. Encourage the student to complete the last step as independently as possible.c. After the student becomes independent on the last step, encourage the student to complete the last two
steps independently.d. Backward chain in the same manner until the student is able to follow the visual recipe independently.

1. PUT APPLES IN BOWL.
4. COOK ON HIGH IN MICROWAVE FOR 12-14 MINUTES.

3. PUT THE LID ON THE BOWL.
6. STIR AND MASH THE APPLES WITH THE WOODEN SPOON.

4. POUR THE FLAVORED GELATIN PACKET INTO THE BOWL.
