Important Notice to Attendees
The material to be presented and discussed at the Turbine Engine Technology Symposium will involve technical data that is governed by DoD Directive 5230.25, “Withholding of Unclassified Technical Data from Public Disclosure.” Only individuals or enterprises certified under DoD Directive 5230.25 are eligible to obtain access to unclassified technical data with military or space applications in the possession of, or under the control of, the DoD.
As a participant of the 2016 Turbine Engine Technology Symposium, please observe the following guidelines:
• Attendee badges must be worn and prominently displayed at all times while in attendance at the Symposium. Access to all Symposium sessions, workshops and exhibits is strictly limited by badge access only.
• Attendee badges are the responsibility of the attendees. As such, attendee badges should be kept in the attendee’s control, even while the attendee is not in attendance at the Symposium.
• Any attendee whose badge is lost must report this to the Symposium Registration Desk located in Room 106 of the Dayton Convention Center. A replacement badge will be issued once credentials and certification information have been revalidated.
• At the end of the attendee’s participation badges must be turned in to Symposium Staff in Room 106 or to the guards at the entrances to the Symposium sessions and exhibits.
• NO photography is allowed at the Symposium, including the Exhibit Hall, General Session, or the Workshops.
We hope that you will find your participation at the 2016 Turbine Engine Technology Symposium both
informative and enjoyable.

Keynote Speaker
Dr. Dale Carlson
Dale R. Carlson, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Propulsion Senior Technical Advisor in the Engineering Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The directorate provides leadership and support at senior government and industry levels in aerodynamic and structural design, propulsion safety, durability, and engine certification.
Dr. Carlson has more than 35 years of US government and industrial experience in developing and leading propulsion system design, research, development, and applications across a broad range of speed regimes. As a trained aerodynamicist and computational fluid dynamics specialist, he has taught, developed, and applied state of the art computational methodologies to numerous multi-disciplinary problems. These include subsonic, transonic and hypersonic flows, unsteady turbomachinery flowpath simulations, aerothermochemistry, and thermal response of structures, laser-material interaction, hydrodynamic stability, aerodynamics, thermal radiation, and geometrical optics of missile sensor windows. Dr. Carlson is an expert (Six Sigma certified Master Black Belt) in applying statistical tools and probabilistic methodologies for the solution of complex engineering design, manufacturing, and business problems. He has also extensive systems engineering experience and has led several major engine qualification and development programs.
Dr. Carlson has extensive experience in propulsion technology strategy and as a technology spokesperson at numerous conferences and venues across the globe. Leveraging his extensive industrial experience, he has advised numerous US Government agencies on international trends and developments in science and technology for the aerospace sciences.
