Stop Action• Use fast shutter speed – 1/250 or faster

• Pre – focus lens while subject is stationary.

• Works best in bright, sunny conditions

• Keep camera in one spot, wait for subject to enter the frame then press shutter release

Deliberate Blur• Use slow shutter: 1/60 or under

• Pre-focus on while subject is

still

• Rest camera on a flat sturdy

surface or use tripod

• Look for natural movement

Pan• Use shutter speed 1/60 - 1/125

• Pre-focus on subject while still

• Move camera smoothly in the direction of the moving subject

• Subjects moving side-to-side work best (not toward/away from you)

Plan Ahead• To increase your odds for success shoot 4-5

different subjects and shoot multiple exposures of each type of motion.

• Don’t forget to focus the lens while your subject is stationary FIRST!

– You cannot focus WHILE the subject is moving.

• Decide on your composition first and practice setting up shots BEFORE pressing the shutter release
