1 WHAT IS A STRATEGIC PLAN AND WHY HAVE ONE?

2 WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?

2A WRITING YOUR STATEMENTS

Below, brainstorm – there are no bad ideas here – and write down any key words orphrases that answer the questions a mission statement answers -- What (what am I here todo?), Why (why am I doing it?), For Whom (who am I doing this for?) and include Value(what value does this bring?).

Examples: These may be things like “financial stability,” “good parent,” “strong leader,” etc.

Now try grouping your words/phrases with others that are similar, develop a topic keyword foreach grouping, and write those group topic names below:

Examples: These may be group topics like, “philanthropy,” “finance,” “spirituality,” etc.

Now, use your keywords and topics to brainstorm 4-5 possible vision statements – these are yourlong-term statements of how you would like to see yourself over the longer course of your future.

Now edit, revise, and rewrite the above brainstorm statements into your final vision statement:

Repeat this process for your mission statement – this is your short-term-future statement answering thepurpose questions – brainstorm here first:

Now again edit, revise, and rewrite the above brainstorm statements into your final mission statement:
