Why are collaborative projects important?

• Extends learning beyond the classroom• Develops critical thinking skills• Develops cultural and global awareness• Promotes real life/real time learning• Allows students to broaden their world

of learners• Students master knowledge by

constructing it• Students experience new technologies

This year's project invited classrooms to have each student stack Oreo®

cookies as high as he or she can and then average all their individual

results to achieve a final Class result.

Second grade teacher Gaye Lynn Ortis said: What was your experience with the project? “My students enjoyed completing the project and seeing how our results compared with the results of other classes.”

Would you repeat the project next year? “Yes, I would. I really enjoy participating in this program.”
