Bryan Broadcasting Corporation is the only locally owned commercial media in the Brazos Valley. From atop the Crystal Park Plaza in College Station, Bryan Broadcasting operates seven radio stations and prints a vari-ety of magazines distributed throughout the area.
The radio stations owned by Bryan Broadcasting have been a fixture in the community for years. In fact, what is now News/Talk 1620 WTAW had its beginnings in 1919 as an experimental radio station belonging to Texas A&M University. The station is credited with broadcasting the first play-by-play of a football game. WTAW is still home for the Aggies today. Bryan Broadcasting stations are the flagship for Texas A&M Athletics radio broadcasts.
Each of the Bryan Broadcasting stations employ local announcers to broadcast the latest news, sports, weather, and discuss topics that are important to the Brazos Valley. Whether updating listeners on icy conditions and school closings, hosting candidate forums for local elections, or supporting a local artist on American Idol, Bryan Broadcasting DJs and announcers are plugged in to the community.
Commitment to the community is part of the job at Bryan Broadcasting. Over the last four years, the stations have raised over $300,000 for life-saving equipment in St. Joseph’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Children of low-income families have received toys and clothes for Christmas through Bryan Broadcasting’s annual Christ-mas Angels program; and, the stations donate thousands of dollars of free airtime to local organizations and charities throughout the year.
The Bryan Broadcasting account executives are advocates for local business. Utilizing the stations’ presence on air, online, on location, and even on mobile devices, the sales team creates compelling campaigns for local advertisers.
