OIL SLUDGE TREATMENT

Oil separation system

With the Oilsludge Separation System engineered by Rohrer Group, it is possible to recycle oil in condition out of old oil sludge from sludgepits to reduce the amount of disposal in a dramatic way.

Since 2008 a process unit for the recovery and separ-ation of large quantities of oil and drilling mud has been running with very good results. This unit has also been engineered to minimize the consumption of energy and resources, reusing the hot waste water of the plant for the upstream and homogenization of the sludge.

Excavation

The oil- and drilling sludges are dug out with specially designed caterpillars or pumped with super suction trucks. The special loaders can reach up to 17m into the sludge pit.Due to the high percentage of impurities and coarse grain most of the sludges have to be dug out and separated using a two deck vibrating sieve.The separated impurities are cleaned by an integrated hydrojetting system using the waste water of the separation unit.

The main parts of the plant are Tricanter separation centrifuges produced by Flottweg AG. Tricanter units split the sludge into oil, water and sediment.Due to optimized process control we can reach perfect separation results recycling oil in a quality that can be reused in the refi nery process. Very low percentage of sediment in water and oil can be reached.

The resulting dry sludge has a very high content of solid matter, reaching up to 70% percent, depending on the quality of the feed material.

Several special reworking techniques are used on all resulting phases to improve the separation results.
