IN LOVING MEMORY . . .
No dues or fees are required to belong to The Compassionate Friends. We have all paid the ultimate price — the loss
of our loved ones. Parents and others may provide financial support for our chapter through “love gifts,” a beautiful and
loving way to remember our loved ones. Our chapter work is done by volunteers, and through love gifts we are able to
reach out to others with our brochures and newsletters as well as to obtain books and other information for our library.
We truly appreciate every love gift and donation and use them in our chapter’s work to be there for others.

MINUTES FOR JUNE 2019 MONTHLY MEETING
Nineteen attended the June 4th TCF meeting. We welcomed Kristine Williams, attending in memory of her daughter, Kailey
Nicole.
Volunteers for the August balloon release are asked to sign up by the July 2nd meeting to help with this special event.
Many memories—bringing a smile, a chuckle, and also a tear—were shared tonight; a wonderful time to listen and get to
know our TCF family better. Such a nice way to honor our special persons. Remember, our memories and love for them will
always be with us. ~ Merry Bradley

I WONDER
When did sadness stop covering everything? I don’t know. It must have first been for moments, then maybe hours, days
eventually. Then for a long time no longer ever-present, but just below the surface waiting for a thought to trigger it. Now
I live with more joy than sadness but even now sadness surfaces unexpectedly as the dark shape of loss stirs the cauldron
and tears are added to the soup of life, salty still, but not as bitter or overpowering, adding an important flavor to the
whole of me.
~ Genesse Bourdeau Gentry - Catching the Light – Coming Back to Life after the Death of a Child
Remembrance
I see your smile in the brightness of the summer sun. A gentle breeze is the touch of your hand on mine.
A wave breaks softly on the shore, and I hear you whisper, "Remember me."
A winged bird begins it flight into the distant sky.
The sound of children's laughter fills the air.
The evening stars become your eyes, and I reply—"You are ever near."
~`Priscilla D. Kenney, TCF Kennebunk, ME
The Dream
You came to me this morning in a dream just before I woke. I recognized you as you turned the corner. I
looked at you; waiting for the transience of dream forms and saw it was not to be. You stayed together, the same
age, with the same smile.
We both knew this was just a visit. You and I both knew this was special. We both knew that my dream was
where our two worlds could meet.
I looked at you waiting for the transition, waiting for the change, but it did not come. This dream was not of my
own making but was shared by you and inhabited by you.
I kissed your cheek and felt your skin and felt my arm around your neck. But that's where it ended. I closed
my eyes and felt the distance grow as I rose to awareness and you retreated to longing.
~ June O'Connor, TCF Central Connecticut Chapter

Your broken heart requires at least as much care as a broken bone. With proper care you can be confident that you will heal. The same powerful forces that mend a broken bone will heal your emotional pain, but a wounded heart needs time and proper care to heal.” ~ Harold Bloomfield, MD
