The Renaissance

• The Renaissance (French for “rebirth) was a cultural movement that began in Italy in the 14th century. It marked the end to the dreary and church dominated Medieval period and began a new era of art and learning in Europe.

• Leonardo Da Vinci lived and worked during this time.

What is a Renaissance Man?

• A Renaissance Man is a person who is skilled in many different fields of study and has a broad base of knowledge. The term “Renaissance Man” is based on the various artists and scholars of the European Renaissance, (starting in about 1450 AD)

• Is multi-talented (art, science, literature…)• Has a questioning attitude (curious)• Has a humanist spirit (celebrates people)• Has a secular attitude (Is more worldly and
