NEWS FROM UP NORTH
This is the time when we reflect back on all our blessings from this previous year. I would
like to acknowledge and thank our veterans for this their service to our great country. I
would also like to thank all of our members, staff and GreatLife for their support and contri-
butions during the extensive changes and updates to the Shrine.
I look forward to all the new developments that are ahead of us. We have several exciting
events coming up this festive season and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
We wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season.
Sincerely,
Your OG Bill Gallagher and Lady Vera

EOS Imaging Machine coming to Shriners St. Louis
The EOS Imaging Machine is a unique x-ray machine capable of taking 2D and 3D images
while delivering low doses of radiation to the patients. Radiation dosing is adjustable, and is
able to be reduced to as little as 1/1000 of the radiation dose generated by a standard x-ray
machine. In addition to taking radiographic images of specific anatomical areas (e.g. pelvis,
lungs, spine), the machine can also take images of the patient’s entire body. The patient
can be in a standing or sitting position for the exam, depending on the images needed. An
EOS machine for adult care is on the BJC campus here in St. Louis. However, Shriners
Hospitals for Children – St. Louis will be the only pediatric facility in the region to have this

From Your Chief Rabban
Well, winter has us in its grasp! Let’s start thinking warm thoughts of an early spring. There will be many opportunities to
experience all the renovations to the building in the upcoming months.
The 2019 East–West Shrine Game will be the 94th staging of the all–star college football exhibition to benefit Shriners
Hospital for Children. The game will be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on January 19, 2019, with a
3:00 PM EST kickoff; televised on the NFL Network. If you are not going to the game in person, please make plans to
come watch it at Moila. There should be a good group assembled to “tailgate” in the newly completed Tap Room and
Club Moila. Pro Football Hall of Famers WILL SHIELDS and AENEAS WILLIAMS, three-time Pro Bowler MARK BRU-
NELL and three-time Super Bowl champion WILLIE McGINEST will serve as the 2019 East-West Shrine Game Leg-
ends captains.
There is also a group from Moila going to the East/West Shrine game in Florida in January and we can hope that they
will be able to bring some of that Florida sunshine back with them.
Going forward, there will be many gatherings in the newly renovated facility. It has taken longer than was planned but
the results are going to be worth it. I think everyone is going to be impressed with the changes and improvements.
Look for a revitalized membership committee to get things rolling early in the upcoming year. The plan is to have more
events that everyone can participate in and enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie of the Moila Nobles, Ladies and fami-
lies. There will be some minimal cost events just to get everyone back in the swing of things and if participation is good
in these there is always the opportunity to expand them. The membership committee will be reaching out for creative
ideas and events that the nobility would like to see. Let’s all work together to make Moila a place where we all want to be
and look forward to bringing our friends to events. We have the perfect time to “start fresh” from this point and build it
back up to the way it was in the stories from “back in the day”! Together we can accomplish great things!
There will be a Circus meeting December 6th. You may find yourself reading this after that date is passed but, rest as-
sured there will be another before long. We had a great showing of nobility support at the circus last year and I sure
hope we can continue that trend. The circus is going to be another great one and is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
St. Joseph and the surrounding communities look forward to this event every year and we are so very fortunate to have
a facility like the civic arena to put on the show. If we all work together we can keep this proud tradition going for many
years to come but it will take effort from all of us. If anyone has business connections we are always looking for new ad-
vertisers. This is an opportunity to have a business present to a massive group for a very reasonable price. Please con-
tact the Moila office if you have any questions or ideas.
Stay warm and stay happy!
Bill Pease, Chief Rabban 2018

Welcome to November and exciting times at the El Kadir Shrine Club! Mark your calendars for our November Fish Fry…it
will be Friday, November 9th.
Also---watch your mail soon for a special Door Prize Drawing of our Collector’s Edition 1978 Browning Single Shot Rifle. We
will hold the Drawing December 10th at the Club…7:00 PM. This rifle is one of only 37 manufactured by Browning for the
Missouri Department of Conservation in 1978. It was purchased new and has never been fired. It was originally donated to
us by Swede Echternacht form Shelby County. Swede is a Shriner and during a previous Door Prize give-away of the gun
the winner requested it be donated back to the El Kadir Shrine Club. So here’s your second chance! We will offer Door Prize
Tickets at $20.00 each to help raise funds for El Kadir Shrine Club Activities. We are mailing out a one ticket offer to all of
the addresses on our bulletin mailing list. There is no obligation to participate but your purchase of one ticker will assist in
our ongoing expenses for Club Activities. If you would like to purchase additional tickets please call me at 660-216-2254.
We will sell tickets to the public as well.
We had another great Trunk or Treat event this year so thank you for helping show our Shrine commitment to children.
Thanks to all of the hard working Jewels who made it possible.
Speaking of Jewels…the Bazaar and Luncheon is headed your way November 16th. This is one of our premier events and
the Jewels do a great job! Manager Michelle tells me we have several ballroom events and Christmas bookings too! Keep
telling your friends, neighbors and relatives about our ballroom and event capabilities. Until next time…keep our Shriner’s
Children Hospital motto in your mind…Love to the Rescue!
Thanksgiving Blessings to you and your family as well!

Ole Tymers Unit
Wow, where did this year go? Seems like it goes faster every year, (maybe it's that "age thing"). The Southside Parade turned out to be our last parade of the season, as our annual Weston Pa-rade, was canceled due to rain in the a.m. We did not have a very good turn-out @ the Southside Parade, due to members having heath issues, some were out of town, etc. Always one of the big-gest parades of the season. Those attending, all had lunch @ the Ground Round, after parade.
We had a good attendance @ the annual Sportsman's Event. We had a full table of our folks. It turn out to be a "lucky table" as we had two win on the misc drawing, with Myra Evans & Leland Daise, each winning a pistol, in firearms drawing. Myra, I guess we could call you "Pistol Packing Mama"!! Good time was had, by all.
We will continue to have our Monthly LePeep's Breakfast, on the last Monday of the month, dur-ing the winter months. We had (9) of our members & Ladies attend Oct. breakfast.
Our October Unit Meeting, was our last meeting for this year. Our Unit is "dark" Nov. thru March. Officers for next year: Bob Nichols, Director --- Kim Evans, Secretary/Treasurer --- Jerry Thornton, Historian --- Bob Nichols, ex-pro Reporter.
Our annual Unit Christmas Dinner is scheduled for Thurs. Dec. 13th. @ the Benton Club. Invites will be going out soon.
"THANKS A MILLION" to Vern Hart, for his donation of $2500 to the Transportation Fund, from his winning in a drawing from Monsanto. Wayne Nold, for his 11 years of service to our Unit as Secretary/Treasurer --- GREAT JOB, Wayne! Jerry Thornton & (Lady Ruth), for hosting all our Unit meetings, during the remodel of the Temple, (thanks for all the good snacks & treats @ all meetings).
Many of our Ladies, have had health issues this year. Please keep, Sue Long, Dee Frye, Donna Imlay, Lola Hansen & Alyce DuCoing, in your thoughts & prayers.
Safe travels for our "snow birds", JoAnne Bryan & her son Dale & Jerry Acord & Lady Nancy.
Hope all have a safe & healthy winter. Happy Holidays to All.
Yours in the Faith, Bob Nichols
