December 2005 Full LDR database was converted to MFHD in

December.

January 2006 Holdings displays in FirstSearch, in WorldCat

Resource Sharing, and in ILLiad will show volume and year data from MFHD LHRs

starting around 6:00 PM EDT on Friday February 17th.

New Holdings Maintenance functionality will be available through the Connexion browser starting Sunday February 19th.

Local holdings data will be available in FirstSearch & WorldCat Resource Sharing during the weekend of the install.

local holdings maintenance is available through the Connexion browser

Order Form A new order form for the local holdings batch

maintenance service will be available on the OCLC Web site at that time.

Data Requirements

Will continue to accept files of MFHD or Non-MARC patterned data.

Will no longer be limited only to serial item holdings.

Newspaper restrictions for USNP (NEPU) libraries will be removed!

OCLC Control Number must still be in each record and consistently in the same location in each record in a file.

Will continue to require complete set of holdings records attached to a single bibliographic record.

Will still follow single copy model. Each holdings record sent in the set of records for a specific bibliographic record must represent the holdings data for only one copy.

Data Requirements (cont)

Institution-level Summary Holdings

Institution-level summary holdings statements will be created when library submits coded holdings data.

Summarization will generally not be done for textual holdings. A generic note indicating that local holdings are

available will take the place of an institution summary if one cannot be created.

Documentation

Planning Guide is under revision. Batch Processing Web pages will be

revised.
