Vision of Singapore's Intelligent Transport Systems

A more connected & interactive land transport community

Smart Sensors in Land Transport

Data Collection

Green Time Generation

4

Green Link Determining (GLIDE) System

detectorloops

• Detector loops embedded in roads collect local traffic data

• Centralised monitoring and fault reporting

• Regional computers that generate green time based on the real-time traffic data

• System allocates green time based on traffic flow, gives green wave along major corridors

J-Eyes Green Man Plus

Humanised Green Man

Time Allocation

• Provides more green man time (up to 13 seconds) for elderly and persons with disabilities to cross the road

• To date, 760 pedestrian crossings have been equipped with GM+

• 1000 Green Man Plus crossings by 2018

Online and Mobile Applications

Disseminating Real-time

Information

• One.motoring and MyTransportSG provide road users and public transport commuters with real-time updates

• Data sharing with third-parties for development of user-friendly applications

Vision of AV Deployment in Singapore

7

Fixed Route & Scheduled Services

Mass transport for intra- and inter-town travel on a fixed route and scheduled basis

Point-to-Point Mobility-on-Demand

Shared services dynamically routed in real-time in response to demand, for point-to-point, first-and-last-mile journeys

Freight

Carriage of goods during off-peak hours

Utility

Utility operations during off-peak hours (e.g. for road sweeping)

Scale Test-Beds Town Deployment Island-Wide

Roadmap for Deployment of AVs

Full Operational Deployment• Full deployment

of AVs across all tracks

• New towns are designed for AVs

• Existing towns to be retrofitted

Limited Deployment• Roll-out of AVs

for commuter service in some of our towns

• Operational deployment of truck platoons and utility vehicles in some areas

Trials• Trials in test-

beds, controlled environments

• Expanded to more complex environments, including residential areas, as and when ready
