WHAT IS SCHOOL READINESS?

School readiness starts at birth with the

support of parents and care givers, when

young children acquire the social and

emotional skills, knowledge and attitudes

necessary for success in school and life.

CBC has agreed 16 expectations

The good level of development ( GLD) is used to assess

school readiness.

This uses the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum

Central Bedfordshire children are slightly below the

national average for a Good Level of Development

(GLD).

Research shows that children who do not achieve a GLD

aged 5 years struggle with:
