I saw you...thanks!
A conceptual design by Shubha Bhat
Design Challenge: Use mobile or social technology to influence at least 5 people
to create a stronger habit of eating vegetables each day
Persuasive Purpose
1. To create a cue behavior of eating a veggie each time you see a friend eating a veggie. 2. To reinforce the behavior through anonymous thank you notes that are posted publicly.
StoryGroup of friends gets an email each morning Friends take on challenge
Friends visit the site: bit.ly/isawyou
Each person fills out an anonymous thank-you note each day
Friends view the "Sightings Feed"
Prototype of I saw you, thanks!
Features/Functionality
• Daily morning email functions as a reminder • "Thank you" submission functions as a reinforcement and
tracker • Sightings Feed serves to publicly acknowledge the friends
that influence us • People who are acknowledged will get a personal email
saying that someone has thanked them.
Theoretical Justifications
Reinforcement
Public Gratitude
Awareness that your friends habits influence you and vice-versa Cue behavior
Shortcomings of Design
Finding a group of dedicated prototype testers!Checking the site & submitting a thank-you are habits themselves. People may eat alone some days Does this rely on you feeling connected to the people on the Sightings Feed?
What else is possible?
• Add other habits besides veggie eating • Link to Facebook or Twitter
• Ability to control your Sightings feed (so that it is only your
friends) • Track who thanks the most and who is thanked the most
• Potential competition
Next Steps
Find a group of willing testers
Begin sending reminder emails to those interested Update Sightings feed daily
