Micro car class for CMMC Tin TopsTIN TOFS

The Tin Tops series run by theSouthern branch of the Classicand Modern Motorsport Clubis introducing a'micro car'ciass this season in an attemptto boost numbers so il canrun as a standalone grid.

Rather than takingcompetitors away from popularseries such as the Ct Challengeand EnduroKa, organisersintend for the new T4 ciassto present an opportunityfor those drivers to take partin additional sprint races.particularly those based in the

south-east, and who arereluctant to travel too far.

"We want to get Tin Topsto have their own autonontous6gid again," explained CMMCSouthern's Rod Birley. "We,velumped them in with SuperSaloons on a number ofoccasions, and drivers of lhclower-powered cars weren, tquite so happv about doingthat for understandablereasons. We said to the guysto come up with some ideasto improve grid numbers.',

This led to the suggestionof a class for cars such as theCitroen Cr, Ford Ka and peugeot

ro7. Talks were then held withother clubs running seriesdedicated to these machines.

"These clubs areoversubscribed in some cases,"continued Birley. "We've hadsome interest in the Lyddenround because none of the otherclubs go there and it could be ahoot. If you can't get a full teamtogether and you're not able togo to Anglesey and Croft, butcan do an event at Lydden, itgivcs you that opportunity. We're putting these races on fora bit of fun and enjoyment andyou can dip in and out."S'iEPHEI'I LICii*RiSH
