Implications of high-throughput phenotyping

Examples of Our Work

How you can use our facilities and work with us

Our Facility

Our Facility

LemnaTec platform for the systematic large scale, high throughput phenotyping

of diversity and mapping populations in crops and model species. 3 conveyor

connected glasshouse compartments with 850 RFID carriages

Our Facility

5 Imaging chambers:

RGB (biomass)

Root NIR and VIS and Laser

Thermal IR (stomata function)

NIR (water content)

Our Facility

Temperature controlled Glasshouse and heat

map produced from 21 distributed sensors.

Our Facility

Watering station, and graph illustrating water regulation

Also nutrient and spraying cabins

Phenotyping at different

scales at IBERS

Nutrient flow (hydroponics) UAV field phenotyping e.g. Forest health

Molecular analysis - HiSeq, Mass spec, FTIR/NIR,

Micro Raman, Marvin Grain Analyser

Photo-physiology – PAMFluorometer, chlorophyll

Imager, Gas analyser

High throughput Phenotyping

Very large amounts of data

We can't look at it all

Aim to provide a set of Automated techniques, moving from

Manual to computer assisted to fully automated analysis

Application pipeline in development

Tell us things we can't measure manually

Images from the chambers

Root RGB Blue light photo-chemical reactions

Multi plant top view RGB – Model plants and crops for

biomass, rate of growth over time 3D depth maps of grass

About the NPPC – our smarthouse and other

Phenotyping facilities

Our High-throughput phenotyping data -

Images and environmental data gives us

Very Large amounts of data which we can't look at
