HANDYMAN ExemptionHANDYMAN ExemptionA “Registered Handyman” may work the finish area of a home. However,

when the project is within or goes behind the walls of the building, or modifications to the existing culinary water, soil, waste, or vent piping

are necessary, only a licensed journeyman plumber or plumbing contractor shall perform work.

“Minor Plumbing Work or Incidental” Includes: • Any Plumbing related work that costs more than $300 (in total value,

including materials & labor) must be done by a licensed plumber.

• Does not include installation or replacement of a water heater, or work to repair or replace Plumbing Appliances, Appurtenances, Fixtures and Systems

which requires a building permit OR goes behind the living space (drywall) and/or affects the water supply.
