All the participants
I would like to commend Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia for
organizing this International Architecture Conference held under
Borneo Green City International Conference.
It gives me great pleasure and comfort that the professional body,
professional practitioners and government agency organized an
event of this scale, first time in Sabah, to continue to strive to
improving their skills, which in turn improves the built environment
and development of the state of Sabah.
I am also truly grateful for our guest speakers for accepting our
invitation to come to Sabah share your works and experience. We
hope our Sabahan hospitality has not disappointed you.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Architecture for the
Millennials” as I have been informed by PAM Sabah Chapter, a
very fitting theme given the rapid changes that we are witnessing.
There is a saying that goes:
Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for
improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better
opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable.
Henceforth, I strongly urge and encourage all to continue to
aspire, strive and work together to propel our state to greater
heights. With this, I now declare the Borneo Green City
International Convention and Borneo Architecture Festival closed.
DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER CUM
MINISTER OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND HOUSING
Message From
YB Datuk Dr. Haji Jaujan Bin Haji SambakongDeputy Chief Minister cum Minister of
Local Government and Housing
On behalf of Kota Kinabalu City Hall, I would like to
express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to BIMP-
EAGA and Asian Development Bank for giving us the
opportunity to be the first city in the BIMP-EAGA region
to prepare and conduct an extensive and thorough
study on the green city action plan specifically for Kota
Kinabalu.
With the launching of the Kota Kinabalu Green City
Action Plan, it marks the exciting start of our greening
initiatives. There will be many green programmes that
Kota Kinabalu city hall will roll out in the near future and
we need to ensure that these actions are not just lines in
a report, but are given life by the work that we now
undertake to complete.
I look forward to the implementation of the many
projects listed in the green city action plan and for Kota
Kinabalu City to become the role model for best
practices in the BIMP-EAGA region.
Lastly, a special thanks to the co-organizers, Kota
Kinabalu City Hall, Malaysian Institute Of Architects
