Giraffes live in the African Savanna.

Savanna-a hot, treeless plain.

Habitat

They are orange, yellowish, brownish spotted animals.

What they look like

Giraffes can weigh up to 800kg.

Their height is 5.3 metres tall.

Weight and height

Giraffes can run up to 56km/h

Running speed

They eat grass, grains and other plants.

Diet

Twenty six years is the longest known in the wild; over thirty six years in captivity.

Life span

Did you know that a giraffes’ hoof is the size of a dinner plate which is about 20 centimeters.

Hooves

The giraffes’ family is called giraffidae. There are two types of giraffes.When there are groups of giraffes, they are called troops.

Family

Giraffes are mammals. More than two metres is

neck length. The neck is made up of

only seven bones. Giraffes have horns.

It takes one year and ninety two days for a giraffe to be born.
