About the US 1 Bridge over I-295

• Constructed 1958 (age 60 years). 242’ long.

• Past Rehabilitation Work includes:

o 1991 – new bridge railing, new pavement, deck joints,

steel painting, concrete repairs. Roadway width

increased 16” (to 41.3’).

o 2013 – exit 15 NB off-ramp relocated under southern

span. Top layer of bridge pavement replaced for new

pavement markings.

• Deck, abutments, and piers are in “fair” condition.

The steel beams are in “satisfactory” condition.

• Past Rehabilitation Work includes:

o Routine preservation and maintenance activities

o No substantial rehabilitation work

• Deck is in “fair” condition, steel beams are in “good”

condition, and abutments and piers are in

“satisfactory” condition.
