2017
My Dear Friends,
This will be the last opportunity we will have to chat for a while. Today, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 was
the first day of the rest of my life. This morning, in the Center, I had a complete breakdown, shouting and crying. Thank God I finally came to my senses. This was not the first time this has happened.
I am not ashamed or embarrassed by the situation. Every year, thousands of Seniors go through similar
situations, suicidal thoughts and depression. The main thing I have learned over the years is that there is ONLY one way to face a problem, directly and quickly.
With that in mind, I have taken a six month leave of absence from WPSC. For that period I will have no contact with anyone at the Center. I must sever the ties in order to regroup. I will be undergoing mental, physical and spiritual therapy, so that I
may get my body, mind and soul back to a healthy state. I ask you, my friends to pray for me during this time. God bless and may God continue to bless America. Love, Barry
On behalf of all of the WPSC members, I would like to thank Barry for his servant leadership, and the many valuable contributions he has made to the Center over the years. We recognize and appreciate the sacrifices he has made to help make our Center a better place for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers will be with him during this difficult time. J. Putria
From Where I Sit
Volunteer of the Month: Dorene Cesa I was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. We lived in a row house built by the Alexander Smith Carpet Company for it’s employees. After putting myself through college, I went to work as an elementary school teacher. First as a kindergarten teacher, and ending my career as fifth grade teacher in the Yonkers Public School System.
Later, when my three children, Christopher, Jennifer and Jessica were born, I directed my work and energy to raising my family and became involved in my own children’s schools. I worked on both the parent and teacher side of the PTA. I raised funds, served as class mother and was actively involved in all aspects of education. In May 1995, I was awarded the Jenkins Award for Integrity and Commitment to Teaching. I was nicknamed “The Commish” by my fellow teachers, because I ran the football pool every year, and of course March Madness.
In 2003, Gene and I sold our home in Bronxville, NY and moved to our beloved condo in Cocoa Beach. After losing Gene in 2008, I became involved in the Senior Center when it opened in 2009. I must tell you it became my second family. I’ve met and loved so many wonderful people.
Besides being a director, I am also involved with the Space Coast Honor Flight. If any of you are veterans of WWII, Korean or Vietnam Wars, and haven't been to Washington DC to see the different memorials...Please see me.
I also started a group here called, “We Just Want to Have Fun-Singles Only”. We’ve done some fun things, Horseback Riding, Miniature Golf, and visited Navy Seal Museum and of course gone on the Gambling Ship. In my spare time, I like to travel. In the past two years I have gone to Ireland, China, Australia and New Zealand. Visiting my seven grandsons of course is my to priority. No boys, just girls.

Led by Laura Parsons
Meets on Wednesdays at 8:30am and

The classes are beneficial to all ages and stages but especially benefit senior citizens and those with health issues. The forms we use address a wide variety of body systems while focusing on breathing, balance and wellbeing.
