increasing = to proceed, to advance, to grow

> The idea of abide covers the 2 aspects of our relationship with Christ:

#1: Our salvation in Christ John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

#2: Our dependence upon Christ

I. Jesus Loved the Disciples – v. 12-13

“People don’t care how much you know, till they know how much you care!”

* The key to helping people grow is the love you have for them!

John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

* Sacrifice is a ‘fruit’ of love for someone!

INPUT: What are some of the ways that He had already demonstrated His love for them?

1) He created us! – John 1:1-32) He brought light to a dark world

3) He became flesh and dwelt among us and revealed the glory of God – John 1:14

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1) He dwelt among us – a process of relationship building

Matthew 11:19 "The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."

V. Jesus Sent the Holy Spirit to Help Them

* We can’t BE the Holy Spirit, but we can WALK in the Spirit and produce the FRUIT of the Spirit so God can be glorified.
