Pediatric Medical Supplies & AR Medicaid

An Educational In-Service for Doctors and Nurses

Medical Professionals, What are YOUR Needs?

•Taking care of your patient is our No. 1

•Arkansas Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Insurances are tricky

•So many rules and regulations about Medical Supplies

•Finnegan Health Services is the expert to help you serve your patient

What do you mean by “Medical Supplies?”When we say Medical Supplies, (all DME), we mean:

• incontinence• catheters• ostomy• enteral feeding• tracheostomy• wound care• diabetic supplies

Finnegan provides disposable medical supplies only. No Equipment.

Disposable Medical Supplies Include:

Disposable Medical Supplies:

• diapers, pull-ups, bladder pads, and bed pads

• catheters and drainage bags

• all ostomy products

• enteral feeding and oral nutrition

• tracheostomy products

• wound care products (not saline)

• diabetic supplies (not insulin or insulin syringes)

What else can Finnegan Health provide?

• Bath Safety Equipment:

Bath Benches, Shower Stools, Bath Chairs, Shower Sprayers, Transfer Benches, etc

• Medicaid Waiver products:

Case managers can Fax/Email the patient’s needs and we will submit a bid

What else will Full Arkansas Medicaid cover?

Full Arkansas Medicaid (not ARKids First, also known as ARKids B):

• $130 incontinence supplies (one month) from age 3-21 years

AND

• $250 medical supplies (one month) age dependent on supplies

What if the child doesn’t have Full Medicaid?

• ARKids First, or ARKids B, covers $125 worth of medical supplies monthly.

DOES NOT include incontinence supplies

• Extension of Benefits is possible but not guaranteed

Enteral and Oral Nutrition Patients

• Child must be 5 years old or WIC must provide

• 21 years and older, only covers tube-fed formulas

• No dollar limit to formula but maxed at 30 units per day/3,000 calories

• Determined by caloric need

• Medical records are required annually and a PA is required every 6 months.

More notes on Speciality Formulas

• Speciality formulas prescribable until 21st birthday

• For drinking, eating, or tube-feeding

• If the child is not tube-fed, Finnegan is required to have an EPSDT on file

• Thickeners do not require an EPSDT but do require a prescription

• Limited to 16 units per date of service

What does Medicaid Require in an Rx?

• Medicaid only recognizes an MD or DO’s signature on a prescription.

• APN, RN, or any other signature is not valid for medical supply fulfillment.

• Every change for size, quantity, frequency, etc. requires a new prescription.

• MEDICAID’S RULE, NOT OURS!
