EXPERIENCES IN ELISAVA

This book speaks about the experiences that I have had in the four years of studies in Elisava.

There I have learned a lot, but in the same time I have built my life, because when you studied a car-rier like this one, you have to be very worker. Is for this reason that I have suffered a lot: many nits with-out sleeping, many weekends at home doing only homework... but it was for something that we like.

In this portfolio, I want to show this work but also how meanings to me, how this hard work.

In consequence I divided in deferents parts o expe-riences:

LABORATORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY

In my second year, I manually created a camera with wood. With that camera, we took several pictures in the way first history fotopraphies were regsit-ered.

CALLIGRAPHY

A subject of 2nd year course, focused in write manually like the monks of the Middle Ages and practice with their calligraphyc methods.

This is the first exercise, consist-ing of elaborating apoem chosen by ourselves, using calligraphy orderedby pofesor but a freestyle method.I used a watercolorpaper, and didthoroughly with water and coffee to lend the paper an old touch.

Then, I sprinkled it with some paintand wrote the poem in red letters.

The poem had a romantic and dramatic content, which is why I decided to write it in red.

The poem was written by Gustavo Adolfo Becquer.

The color of the text was made withred gouache paint-ing and a mixture of gomma arabicand water.

The second exer-cise consisted ofchoosing the mate-rial we wanted, with the preferredtechnique, andcreating a logo for a company.

I picked a real company, a Spanish book publishing com-pany of hautecuisine. As canbe seen in the photograph, thename is Montagudeditors.

The process con-sisted of practicinguntil you got thelogo you liked, then scanning it and passing it to photoshop.

Then, we had to make the neces-sary final touchesWhat I did was taking a pen madeof bamboo sticks and dip it in black ink, then I transferred it to the computer, and I wrote the additional information with a computer program.

EXPRESSIVE TECHNIQUES

Third year, this exercise consist-ed of learning how to draw the plans manually, with differentthicknesses of lines, to properlyunderstand the mecanism that operatedafterwards with the computer

Here we can see one of the exercises that I made usingthis metod.

We had to draw the plant of an apartment, and afterwards decorate it, do the sections and drawings.

This is anotherkind of exercise,a little bit diferent from the others because instead ofmaking interiorism plans, this one is about productdesign.

We had to choose one design chair and do the plan,the section and a drawing, all of that in diferents scales.

This chair is the chair designed by Mies Van the Rohe, named Barcelona Chair.

“Express ideas and feelings in an instant”

STORY BOARD

This was a work we made inthe 2nd year. We had to pick a piece of publicity of a perfume, and from that create a new one.

I took a friend as a model for my advertisement.

But before that Ithought about what the story would be like. After that, I created the story board to make theadvertsement, andthe poster I had based on had to appear in one of the frames.

The advertisementI chose was that ofLolita Lempicka perfume, I relied on the word Lolita, which even appears in literature or film, means that a woman is seduc-tive and irresistiblebut a has touch ofchildhood and innocence.

So I created a story where a woman is pure and innocent,persecuted in a world of peace and his only salvationis to get the per-fume, which maked her become an irresistible lolita, while the wolf was chasing to a man.

Here we can see the history. It is about a girl that is walking in the forest. She hears something and goes to see what it is. Although she doesn’t see anything, it was, in fact, a wolf. After that, she puts some perfume on herself and becomesan irresistible woman. At the same time,when the wolf smells the perfume, he turns into an irresistible man too.

“ Design from a concept ”

LET’S PLAY PANTONE

It was a demand of the companypantone to create a new collec-tion, original and functional. It was a workshop I did.

In colaboration with two other girl: Marzia Benito and Gemma Moreno.

Our idea was based on the concept ofplaying with pantone. We incorporated some traditional games into the note-book.In the picture, we can see a child playingwith the prototype of our game pantonebook.

To finish, we hadto think also about how this would be promoted at the points of sale.

We thought tooccupy a small part of the store or promoting spot, placing a projector on the ground to project the image ofof one of the games. Then wedecides to putsome white ex-positors in the side where they wouldbe exposed the different gamesand books with different gammas.

The game would change depen- ding on the fair or event, which re-quires the store like the color of thedesired gamma.

Here, he have put an example of a client who would want it to change according to the seasons.

THE KITCHEN

1rst year work, where we hadto create a workspace for a chef.

As the first work of interior design, we only had to make anapproach with simple plans and a conceptual model.

BAR COLAPSO

Subject 2nd year course that I designed a temporary bar for an exhibition of eme3 architecture festival of Barcelona.

Our bar is called the collapse,based on the idea of mentalstress and saturation.

This bar had tobe made up of two container trucks, which we could use as we wished.

So we devised twofloors. The first would consist of the bar with a terrace protected by an awning, andthe second floor would be a chill out and relaxing area with cushions andscreens movingimages.

As in the graph ,the ground floor would be covered with a vinyl that has one thousand “post-its” stuck on it written with various topics,and the second floor would be painted in yellow, symbolizing a post-it.

This bar would be placed in the mid-dle of the square of the museum.

SECTION. Here we see a single sectionto make an idea of this bar.

This bar was made of metal painted on yellow the second (referent post-it) and white.

In the first floor we can see the bar with a terrace. And the second floor is for being relaxed.

PHOTOMONTAGE. It is always easier to see clearly a project with a model and a photomontage.

ACHILLE CASTIGLIONE

2nd year, this exercise of interior design consisted of picking upobjects from a famous Italiandesigner, called Achille Castiglioni, and creating an exhibition in the lounge of Vinçon store in Barcelona.

Our idea consisted of a set of fabrics that hung from the ceiling, and at the same time it served to storethe object in them.

THE WAREHOUSE

I did this work in the 3rd year.The concept was put in a houseof 45 m2. My concept which was based was that of a warehouse, it had to encompass the entire house, being well the center of the house.

A shelfwith bottles inside were the separatorielements thatformed the space, playingwith colors.

This is a picture made with watercolor draw-ings and colored pencil.

Drawings weremade in order to get an idea of what would look the house like.The most impor-tant thing in these drawings are colored in maroon (wine color) and the bottles permeate all of the space.

This would beachieved through the separatori elements (which are the main concept of thewhole house),that will be sometransparent glass shelves.

There is a viewof the kitchen and dining room, bathroom and two bedrooms.

Finally when Ihad the projectpresented I made a study model to seebetter if my project worked well.

I picked a red transparent plastic to simulate the shelves full of bottles, and began to develop themodel.

The final resultwas that we can see in the picture.It really got thedesired effect.

HEALTHY COOKING

Interior design 3rd year course was to design a public space (located in a floor ground com-mercial space) for old people create an original activity. Our client was the City Council.

Colaboración: Christel Suarez.

Our idea wasbased on the fact that older people, on account of their health problems, tend to have a very poor and limited diet.

We wanted totackle this problemby creating an activity that shows how to cook with food that everyonecould think fun and tasty. We decided to split the premise into into three separateactivity spaced. Thefirst was a touch screen with a pen that customers were given at theentrance, and with which they could customize their file with what they could or couldn’t eat. In the next activity space there was some game screens with funny recipes for playingin groups. And,finally, at the endof the room there was a place whereonce a day a live demonstrationof these recipes was held, along with a professionalcook.
