Location Map and Project Area

The rustic-themed playground as constructed in the early 1980s was inspired by the the park landscape.

Against the backdrop of a large rock outcrop and rustic shelter, the playground was meant to feel like part of the park landscape.

The large granite embankment slide has become the best-known and perhaps most beloved feature in any Central Park playground.

Toddler swings, not included in the original design, were added later in response to community demand.

The original landscape plantings within the playground have been augmented over time.

The rustic character extends to the playground entrance.
